@Datalink Thank you for the detailed reply. I had been testing with a laptop that has a 1000 Mbps link connected directly to the CODA modem, so taking away any question with the router. I was getting higher throughput with Ignite 250u/CGN3ACSMR (I used to get up to 300 Mbps) than what I am getting right now with Ignite Gigabit/CODA-4582, which has varied from 150-200 Mbps, all the way down to 0.1 Mbps (which happened twice today) and where I have to unplug and reboot the CODA modem to restore speed. When I reboot, it does not update the firmware. I've already requested the firmware update push from CommunityHelps (with a response that it can take up to 7 days) and made the same request when talking to Tech Support earlier today. Good suggestion to call and have a tech look when the OFDM downstream is NA. I have a feeling that it may be the modem. Hopefully the tech that comes will also have a modem on the truck.

@eyeeifmx have you ever seen the laptop run at anything above 300 Mb/s? Although the laptop might have a gigabit port, that doesn't necessarily mean that everything else beyond the port will support gigabit data rates. A gaming laptop or possibly higher end workstation type laptop should, but for everyday run of the mill type of laptops, I wouldn't count on it. We've seen a good number of examples in the forum where the customers equipment, especially laptops won't support higher data rates. Certainly not trying to disparage your laptop, just pointing out what we've typically seen.
The OFDM channel can definitely be a problem. That channel is running somewhere in the 300 to 500 Mhz range, which is above the DOCSIS 3.0 Upstream channels and below the DOCSIS 3.0 Downstream channels. The lower channel range is more susceptible to noise ingress but, I don't know how much that comes into play when we're talking about the 300 to 500 Mhz range. The OFDM data that is displayed in the user interface is not totally correct, so, at the present time, all it really tells you is that the modem is using DOCSIS 3.1 or not. You would have to call tech support to determine what the signal level and signal to noise ratios are for the OFDM channel and whether or not they are in spec.
The tech will have to ensure that the OFDM channel is running to spec and that the modem is using DOCSIS 3.1. Ideally that OFDM channel will have failed, which would make it much easier to troubleshoot the problem. A failure would point to a severe cable problem, a CMTS issue, or possibly a modem issue. Its a matter of elimination. Its much harder to troubleshoot this when the channel is running while the tech is around, and then drops out when he or she leaves. Very frustrating indeed....

Exact same thing with me. Had the 250u for years and consistently getting 250Mbps, but had the unfortunate idea to "upgrade" to 500u and now won't get more than 150mbps. Extremely unhappy with the service.

Need some help please.
I just upgraded from 30Mbps to 500u.
Modem was replaced on Friday night. I reset it to factory before using at least twice to make sure it had no previous settings.
I am hardwired to the modem with a CAT 5E cable. The best speeds I can get on speedtest, Rogers or Fast are 150Mbps.
Tech support has been useless in trying to getting me the 500Mbps I should.
Any suggestions on what I need to do?

@Shafeen, @amarcel what are you connecting to the modem, a pc or laptop. If this is a laptop, are you connecting via ethernet port, or gigabit ethernet to USB-3 or USB Type C adapter or wifi?
When you run a speedtest with the 500 or gig service, use the www.speedtest.net Toronto Rogers or Montreal Rogers servers. Second choice would be Toronto Beanfield or Montreal Fibrenoire.

Is the hardware and software version on my modem ok? Do I need to replace the modem or update firmware?
Max I am getting on speedtest to Toronto Rogers is 150Mbps Up and 18Mbps down.

@Shafeen whats the fastest rate that you've seen with that laptop anywhere else, both wired and wifi?
Have you tried wifi speedtests and if so, what are your results?
I don't suspect that the modem is an issue, however, there is another newer firmware version that has not been widely released due to wifi authentication issues. You have V2.0.10.28, the newer version is V2.0.10.33T03.
The download LED at the front of the modem should be light blue in colour (its supposed to be magenta) indicating that the modem is running DOCSIS 3.1 on the downstream side. You can confirm that by logging into the modem, navigating to the STATUS .... DOCSIS WAN tab and observing that one of the downstream OFDM channels is active. Both upstream OFDM channels will be inactive at the present time.
I'd actually like you to copy that whole table, from the top of the Downstream section to the bottom of the OFDM Upstream section and paste that into a post, just so I can see what your signal levels look like. The copy and paste process will paste in the text contents of the table. Ignore the data that sits above the Downstream table as that is modem specific and shouldn't be posted in an open forum.
There are a number of customers with the white CODA-4582 who are experiencing slow data rates. You could be one of them. Since the (DOCSIS 3.1) OFDM data in the user interface isn't totally correct, I'd like you to call tech support when you have time and ask the CSR to run a signal check on the modem just to see if it passes. Ask the CSR specifically if the Downstream OFDM channel signal level and signal to noise ratios are in spec. Apparently the tech support numbers are correct, so, for now thats what users have to do in order to determine the real status of the Downstream OFDM channel.

Using a laptop on a wired directly to modem test, with 250u and the Rocket Modem, I was seeing 300 Mbps download, however, using the same laptop with Gigabit and the CODA-4582, I see it vary from 70-80, sometimes 200, but mostly 130-150, and at times 0.5 Mbps.
I just went to the store and replaced the modem, and it is CODA-4582U this time, and it seems brand new as it came in a box and I even had to take off the plastic film around the device, and I'm still getting the same results (1A hardware, and 2.0.10.28T2 firmware), and also the downstream light on the modem is a white (or very faint light blue) down arrow.

@eyeeifmx Your signal is WAY too high, the upload channels are at 25dbmv, they should be 32dbmv minimum. You should call Rogers and have them send a tech to correct the signal levels. Also the OFDM channel is at 14.4
The spec is -10 to +10 with 0 being ideal.

@Shafeen your DOCSIS 3.0 Downstream signal levels are high, but channel 32, sitting at 303 Mhz isn't terribly high. Ideally they would all be sitting at 0 dBmV, but, right now, their all in spec, so, there is no need to be calling for a tech visit. The signal to noise ratios are all ok. For the most part that upper DOCSIS 3.0 table is irrelevant as the modem is using DOCSIS 3.1 on the downstream side, as indicated by the OFDM Downstream data. The OFDM channel runs somewhere in the 200 to 500 Mhz range, so, that channel 32 signal level as mentioned above shows that there isn't a drastic change in the signal levels in that lower 200 to 500 Mhz range, which is a good thing. The upstream DOCSIS 3.0 signal levels are ok. Typically with this modem we're seeing a range of 30 to 32/33 dBmV for the output power, so, your upstream levels are fine.
Was the modem installed by a tech, or did you swap your previous modem at a Rogers store?

@Datalink I picked up a modem at a Rogers store and swapped it myself. Did a couple of factory resets first.
If you're not seeing issues, any suggestions on what to do now? I am not getting past 170Mbps on a 500u plan.

It might just be your laptop thats the problem. We've seen several cases like this where the laptop just doesn't handle the higher data rates. We had a laptop that wouldn't go above 200 Mb/s on wifi or running thru a gigabit to USB-3 adapter. That died and the current laptop does at least 600 Mb/s on wifi but only runs about 50 to 60 Mb/s thru the same gigabit to USB-3 adapter. I haven't tried a gigabit to USB Type C connector, its on my list of things to do. The current laptop is an Asus, running Windows 10. We have a gaming laptop in the house as well that does at least 800+ Mb/s via ethernet, its been a while since I've tested it. So, not all laptops are equal, in terms of their data rate capability.

I am totally unable to get my speeds over 500Mb on a 1Gb uplink - I did follow the many suggestions here in the thread and wondering what I can do other than to call a tech out. So I did setup the modem with a Dell Latitude 7420 with 1GB uplink on a CAT6 cable into port 1. Turned off all wireless, just left the wired running. Max throughput is 504Mb down and 30Mb up.

@aelaan, still running Windows 7 or 8 on that laptop or have you loaded Windows 10? If you have Windows 10 loaded, does Dell have the drivers available for Windows 10?
Have you ever seen this laptop run faster than 500 Mb/s anywhere else?
If the modem is a self install, and you don't have any other computers to check the modem's data rate, you're possibly dealing with two unknowns here, the first is the modem's max rate, and the second is the laptop's max rate. Do you happen to have a colleague or friend who owns a gaming laptop? If so, invite the laptop for a test session, the colleague or friend is optional, but, a bribe in these cases can to a long way. Conversely, do you know anyone who has gigabit service running, confirmed to run at +900 Mb/s, that can be used to test your laptop?
Your signal levels and signal to noise ratios aren't too bad. The modem is using DOCSIS 3.1 on the Downstream side and DOCSIS 3.0 on the upstream side. The upstream signal levels are higher than normal for this modem when its running DOCSIS 3.1, but, their well within spec. Typically we see somewhere in the range of 30 to 32/33 dBmV for the upstream signal levels.

It is actually my work laptop, I have nothing in my home that runs 1Gb - at work it pushes close to 800Mb on the 1Gb network. It is a newer laptop and runs Windows 10 with the W10 drivers from Dell. I was also pretty pleased to see the numbers to be within the specs from what I could gather from the information here in this forum.
I am not disappointed but I had expected some more from a wired connection on a fairly new laptop - I downloaded some large files and was not disappointed to see like a 15Gb download come in fairly easy. I will ask if they feel it is needed to have a tech come out or if there is anything that can be done without too much hassle.

@aelaan, ok, the laptop runs 800 Mb/s at work, then that's what you should be able to see with your modem. Thats exactly what I wanted to confirm. Call tech support and ask the CSR to:
1. Check the provisioning in the modem and ensure that its set for gigabit service; and
2. Run a signal check on the modem and see if the it passes.
Ensure that the CSR understands that your laptop can run 800 Mb/s, as observed at work, but, the modem isn't delivering that data rate, for whatever reason.

Rogers Speed is very inconsistent. Best day I clocked 1.2 GB and most days below 700MB and then some even less than 400MB while paying for 1GB/50 Service. While in general the 4582 has performed well with minor glitches, service has improved but consistency still is lacking. You may want to also try different tests sites...DSL and Google Fiber speed tests.
