@clenh your modem is now running DOCSIS 3.1 which uses entirely new transmit/receive methodology.  Some users have experienced slower data rates, which is the opposite to what is supposed to happen.  Call tech support and ask the CSR to run a signal check on your modem.  Advise him or her that you're running DOCSIS 3.1 and ask him or her to check the DOCSIS 3.1 receive signal level at the modem to determine if it's in spec.  The signal levels and frequency data presented on the user interface for the OFDM channel is not correct but the CSR can see the correct level.  That might lead to a tech visit to check the external cabling and connectors.

Only allow DHCP client to use this network

Looks like a regression bug was introduced in the new firmware. Previously, the Guest network was fine but now when anyone tries attaching to it and attempts to login, an error "Only allow dhcp client to use this network" is displayed. I tested with my phone on the primary network and the guest network and that's the result I get with the Guest network. The primary is working fine. Hopefully this gets fixed soon.

On my Hitron CODA-4582, I only get 1000 Mbps (yellow light) on Port 4.  All the other ports (1-3) max out at 100 Mbps.

Is this normal?

Re: Rogers Hitron CODA-4582 Hardware

@Kalson what happens when you switch the port 4 device to any of the other ports.  Do those ports switch to 1 Gb/s (amber LED)?

If not, I would say that there is a problem with that modem.

A green LED indicates that the port that the modem is connected with in only running at 10/100 Mb/s.  It could also indicate a problem with the connecting ethernet cable.

Re: Rogers Hitron CODA-4582 Hardware

If I switch the Port 4 device to any of the other ports, it goes from 1 Gb/s to 100 Mb/s.

I tried another PC on Port 2 at 100 Mb/s into Port 4 and then it became 1 Gb/s.

So it looks like I might have to exchange this modem unless there's a way I can go into the admin page and fix it.

Re: Rogers Hitron CODA-4582 Hardware

Log into the modem and navigate to the ADVANCED tab.  Ensure that all ports are enabled.  If they already are, I would presume that the port controller on the modem isn't working as it should.   You could always run a factory reset to see if that has any effect.  That might save a trip to the Rogers store, and if that doesn't have any effect, looks like you will have to swap the modem.

When you switched the devices between ports, are you switching the ethernet cable at the same time, so that the cable remains with the device as you experiment?  That would rule out any issues with cables.

@David161, this problem was resolved in 2.0.10.27 which you should now have.

Let us know if everything works correctly now.

Re: Rogers Hitron CODA-4582 Hardware

I just got my new modem today.  The serice is super fast.  The bad thing is I can no longer use my USB 3.0 hard drive at the back of the modem like the old one to access my data such as E-Mail.  Now I have to walk around with it to re-install application software, device drivers from a Windows re-install, etc.  Worse... I have all my documents there so I can no longer attach certain files to my E-Mail.  This is frustrating.  Is there any way to enalbe the USB in the modem?  I searched like crazy and it's under the "Administration" tab I used to go on my older HITRON modem that had 2, USB 3.0's at the back.  This modem only has one USB 3.0 and it doesn't even work.

@Cheesewyck The USB Port hasn't been enabled yet, in a future firmware update it may be enabled.

Confirmed that I am on firmware 2.0.10.27 and attempted to use Guest wireless network and received the same error. I then proceeded to disconnect the power for the modem, reattached the power cable, and tried again.  Same result. Not sure what else to do now?

Hi, I had to switch back to the Rocket Wifi AC modem and I no longer have any issues. Tech support attempted to change settings, update software etc. but no luck with the COSA. I also PM @dave but he also did not get a chance to respond.

Besides the Guest network not working, I have also noticed the stability is significantly worst. In the last 2 days I've had to reboot the modem 3 times because of lost of Internet access. Previously it was about once a month, so when it occured I didn't think much of it. Due to the frequency hopefully this gets fixed soon. I wonder if it has anything to due with the hardware version I'm using? I have the one without the black dot above the power connector.

Re: Rogers Hitron CODA-4582 Hardware

2.0.10.27 is stable for me. Thanks.

@David161, is the guest network not working with firmware 2.0.10.27?

HI,
I have a few questions

1- How do i update my firmware ? I am on 2.0.10.26T2 firmware now.

2- What characters can be included in the password for the wifi security.

3- TO confirm : To change the guestpassword or turn off the guest mode I have to reset the modem. Am I correct?

Thanks

Are these downstream SnR readings okay? I am getting upstream udp packet loss while gaming, its driving me crazy. Does anything here look bad? We have a -5 attenuator on the line as well. Single black dot 4582.

Can someone confirm what should be the default setting for Hitron firewall settings?  I'm seeing the IPv4 as minimun but the IPv6 as customer with ICMP as allow.  Is that expected per the default settings?

Should channel 32 be that low compared to all of the other channels?

that is fine, ipv6 needs ICMP to function properly. For ipv4 I would block ICMP, but not for ipv6.

As I stated, I am on firmware 2.0.10.27 and the issue has NOT been resolved. That's why I said I have the modem without the black dot in case that made a difference. Already tried disconnecting the power to do a proper reset but again no difference. It only affects the guest network so it's not a priority, but, when a friend comes over it would be nice if it was working.
