@Datalink I am pleased to let you know that I was chatting with a CSR today and while we were chatting she asked me to check my speeds again.... Woahhh!!  953+255 on two systems at the same time.  Single I am hitting the 1Gb now on the wire.  Of course, they never tell me what they did and looking at the numbers on the modem I see no major differences.

Re: Rogers Hitron CODA-4582 Hardware

woohoo, did you ask the CSR to check the modem's provisioning?   Just curious if you had a chance to pose the question?

Update to my issue.

I had a tech come in today. tested and agreed that it was slow. He added a "tamper" on the co-ax cable as he said the signal was too high. He immediacy ended up getting 600Mbps! The little device was added at the modem.

Do you see any changes here?

Re: Rogers Hitron CODA-4582 Hardware

@Shafeen the downstream levels have dropped by about 0.5 dB, the upstream numbers have increased by 6 dB, which is a lot, but, still well within specs.  Thats more than a little strange, unless the attenuator that he added only affects the upstream levels.  I've never seen an attenutaor that does that.

The question is, what if anything did that do for your download/upload test results?

@Datalink

I am getting 600Mbps down and 19Mbps up. (was 160Mbps down)

Re: Rogers Hitron CODA-4582 Hardware

@Shafeen, ok, your getting 600 Mb/s on a 500 Mb/s plan, that's not too bad.  19 Mb/s up is a little slow.  It should probably max out around 22 to 23 Mb/s, but, that's not terribly bad.

@Rogers-Dave

I have a really poor HSI F2 Graph, I am paying for the 500u package and currently getting 195mbps download and 22mbps upload. I have received a credit for the last (15) days of . service. finally had a tech put in a request for the maintenance team today, due to the bad F2 graph.

Is there anything you can assist with from your end to make sure they finally fix this issue? I have literally been have sluggish internet issues now, on and off, for (2) years .... very frustrating. Luckily I have received a few credits when it was really bad, but still.

Re: Rogers Hitron CODA-4582 Hardware

@99bobster99@RogersDave has departed Rogers for Hitron.  Do you know if your modem is running DOCSIS 3.1, as seen by a light blue Downstream indicator LED at the front of the modem?   The STATUS .... DOCSIS WAN OFDM Downstream section will also show one OFDM channel as active.

Just did a new test and am getting 600Mbps / 22Mbps.

How is it that all the tech needed to do was add an attenuator? What If I had not bothered calling a tech. I would never had gotten the speeds I am supposed to....

Re: Rogers Hitron CODA-4582 Hardware

There is a good chance that the tech replaced the external connectors, which will help.  Don't worry, I would have had you call tech support.  I can only do so much.  After that, its time for a tech, or for the engineering staff to step in.

Thanks you so much for all your help! I really appreciate it.
All my wired devices are getting 600. I have an issue with one laptop that maxes out at 150 but does have a gigabit nic. Will figure it out.

Oh yeah ... lol But it seems a very good question, I am still not sure what they did but I am enjoying Youtube streaming without issues at all, no stuttering at all and I downloaded FarCry5 in like 6 minutes, after that it downloaded in the background.  Yes, this certainly is a large improvement.

Re: Rogers Hitron CODA-4582 Hardware

@Datalink yes, the 2nd from top LED is a pale blue compared to the 3rd from top LED which is a darker blue.

The tech that was here last added a 9dB attenuator to improve my TX signal. It fixed my TX signal at the expense of killing my download speed.

I am happy that this issue got escalated to "maintenance", but I've heard this story before and nothing has happened. Any suggestions?

Is there a way to attach to the Coda modem while it is in Bridge mode, so that I can post my DOCSIS values?

I plan to stick around

Thank you for everyone's help so far.  I thought I'd share with you the progress so far since I've upgraded from Ignite 250u to Ignite Gigabit.

1. I had issues with internet stability and severe performance degregation at times, where the modem would random reboot itself, or if I have stable internet, getting 150 Mbps but after 2 hours it would drop to 0.5 Mbps.

- After replacing the CODA modem (the new one is a CODA-4582U that was brand new in the box), it seemed to have fixed this issue.  Getting stable internet, but only 200-225 Mbps.

2. Not getting as high throughput as I had hoped.  After above change, my pings are getting 200-225 Mbps.  Not getting 900 Mbps may be related to my equipment not powerful enough to drive to 900 Mbps, but with Ignite 250u I was able to see up to 320 Mbps with the same laptops/machines.

- I had a service technician come.  He replaced some of the connectors outside as he said they were corroded.  He noticed that my signal was too strong. He also put some sort of connector/filter behind the modem where the cable is plugged into.  When checking the signals at the modem after, they seem more in range.  The upload signals are much better, and the download signals are a bit better.  I'm not losing the OFDM downstream link.  I could get up to 280-300 Mbps now.  Though the technician thought he should be able to see better throughput, he thinks there may be something on Rogers internal end, so he opened a new ticket for me.  Someone called me and I describe the problem, and I asked if my profile was correct, and they said it looks correct but they will go and check it again.

Here is what my modem signals looks like now.  I'd appreciate any guidance or how I can direct the support team to look at specific things.

I've been around

Hi Rogers,
I have recently upgraded my speed from Ignite 100u to Ignite 500u but however, I am not satisfied with the speed I am getting through 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. On the 2.4 GHz it gives me range of 10-32 Mbps (Very very slow!!!) compared to I have 500 Mbps download. And on the 5 GHz it goes up to 90-140 Mbps considering I have Ignite 500u very slow still only the wired connection gives me the right speed.
I spoke to several technical department at rogers they said you are getting right speed on wired as per ur package and try 5 GHz it will give you fast it is still not fast considering I have Ignite 500u.
I even tried to check speed when near the modem through Wifi both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz still slow slow compared to the package I have.

Previously I was using CGN3 modem with ignite 100u was giving me 80-92 Mbps when close to the modem on 2.4 and 5GHz. But with CODA-4582 very very very weak speed!! And technician came too and used their cell phone and said you are getting right speed 250 Mbps (That is not right speed I have Ignite 500 I should get around 450-480 Mbps close by)  but that was close to the modem on 5G.

I am not satisfied with the Ignite 500u and I use wireless connection and speed is very very slow sometimes videos buffering!

Any help would be appreciated or I will have to switch to BELL!!

The problem is your wireless signal/interference, not the service level. In general, don't expect much faster rates with Wi-Fi. Although, also keep in mind that the Wi-Fi network driver/OS may throttle speed based on whether your machine is on battery power or AC.

Sounds more like your wireless client. What wireless client are you using? phone? laptop? Are your clients 1x1, 2x2?

Wi-Fi interference is well documented and if you get full speed on wired they deliver speed promised. There are tons of disclaimer statements about Wi-Fi throughout home, device types structure of home. You may have to look at a wifi extender or moving gateway around but fact that tech got 250 I don't get that one. They do talk about gig speed with wired and one wireless to get full speed but wifi is often not full speed. Anyone got suggestions.

As for device can you get someone to visit and test. Me personally my wifi on 75 is up and down like a yoyo. With extender a have improved strength with wired to extender.

The reality is the truth by all providers about wifi speeds is buried and hard to find and sometimes confusing and almost on verge of deceptive. See recent TV ads in response to Bell claims of removing dead spots, does not imply speed though, with mesh connectors.

Best of luck with getting improvements. I would love to hear about 250 on techs phone. Is that all the gateway can do?
