.23 improvement over .13 thats for sure but not perfect. This morning, after 14 hours uptime, the laptop wired lan connection was sluggish, took forever to open a folder on another computer, but switched to Wi-Fi and was instant, did ping and speedtest, pings were great and speed was hitting 330 (250 service), switched once more to wired and had hard time just loading speedtest page. Something killing the wired network after some time. I didnt reboot it yet, see what happens when kids gets home 🙂 I guess next step turning off 2.4 band, see what happens.

I had .19 and couldn't get more then 610 down on my gigabit plan. I just had .23 pushed and most speed tests i do now is getting 920+.

Guess you're on the Beta pgm to get .23 pushed. What are your upstream numbers? Are your Signal Strength readings for all 32 channels above +3.0.....my signal strengths are 11 above +3.0, 4 are -5.0 and remaining in between. However SNR is good at 34 - 38. Waiting to hear back from L2 on backend issues before joining the Beta pgm.

I am puzzled....with those negative Signal Strength readings and you're getting 900 downstream speeds, that's incredible. Where are you located and what are your upstream numbers?

I'm in Barrie and i get 40 up.

@piskapo30 Your Signal Levels are WAY out of spec. Call Rogers and ask them to run a signal check on the modem, they should be sending a tech out. Rogers Spec: -10 to +10, 0 is optimal.

While signal levels are way out of spec....how is it that he's getting 920+ down and 40 up readings. Seems impossible....but if speeds are right ( than why worry) no?
02-14-2017 06:28 PM
@rjmaxim he is getting fast speeds right now, but it's still out've spec. He would be better off calling Rogers and getting it fixed, rather than have it start disconnecting randomly. Also if he has cable service/home phone through Rogers the signal levels could be very weak for those services too.

Anyone know if this new modem support VPN clients? or just tunneling passthrough as before (which is useless)?
Thanks!

I have to agree with you @FATBADCAT that this is a security issue.
Opening my windows explorer network I can see that there is a D-Link Systems DIR-601 on my network with a MAC address of 00:26:5a:f7:81:c8. I SHOULD NOT BE SEEING THIS INFORMATION. How do I turn this function off so that others can't see my IP Address and MAC Addresses? Is turning off Network discovery and File and Printer Sharing sufficient from a security perspective?
The steps to do so are here:

Thanks
Yep. I always turn of network discovery after installing a fresh copy of Windows.

I just exchanged my modem yesterday for this unit. I hooked it up last night. Firmware 2.0.10.13
i tested this on hardwaried laptop, iPhone, iPad with both beta and normal speed test. Highest d/l I got was shy of 200mb download and 33mb upload.
Questions(s)
1) what are the optimal settings people are using?
2) if not in the beta firmware program how long before a new firmware update is pushed down to an older firmware unit?
3) I see peoples speeds MUCH higher than mine. Based on my speeds I'm wondering if it's the unit or something else. Any suggestion or tips to try and determine?

Just grabbed the Coda yesterday and I'm definitely pleased with these results!

i just switched over to Rogers Internet & have the Hitron v3.1 CODA 4582 gateway/modem. my issue is I can't seem to get a web server setup correctly. I have a saltwater aquarium with a net module that monitors parameters that I am able to view away from home. I have a dyndns host setup but can only view the aquarium webpage from inside my network not while away from home. It all worked fine when I was with Bell & a linksys router. What do I need to do to this Hitron to get it to work? I have ddns configured & port forwarding but it still doesn't work outside my home network. do i need a static IP for the Hitron? do i need to change it to bridge mode & connect my router?
tia help is appreciated

Yes, put it in Bridge mode, same as what you did with Bell's modem, and connect your Linksys router same as what you did with Bell. That way, the only change is your public IP address, and everything else in your network is the same. Check the linksys router to ensure you get a public IP address, and ensure that your ddns is updated with your new IP. Then go test from Timmies. 😉

I dont think any Modem/Gateway combo from rogers has ever supported being a vpn client, nor would i recommend running it as a client. The resources are limited and your better tunneling if you want to achieve full link speed., or building a VPN gateway.

Glad to hear it works the same for you in bridge mode.
Bridge mode disables all wireless on the Rogers modem, including the 5GHz.
Your linksys router should have whatever 5GHz wireless you had before.

@Mike2011 you will be pushed the latest network wide release which is .19 in 24-48 hours.
as for optimal settings:
For Wireless Security set both bands to WPA 2, with AES Encryption
For 2.4Ghz use 20Mhz Channel Width, channel 1, 6, 11, or Auto.
5Ghz, 80mhz Channel Width, wireless channels 149 (high channels)
Firewall both on Minimum, unless you have a specific reason not too. Can you Login to the Modem and under "DOCSIS WAN" post your signal levels please.
02-16-2017 06:19 PM
I have a tech booked for tomorrow to come and check my signal levels.
