Hello Community,

We are currently offering our users an exclusive opportunity to participate in an upcoming trial of the new firmware for our Rocket Wi-Fi Modem (CGN3ACR, CGN3AMR and CGN3ACSMR) and Rocket Gigabit Wi-Fi Modem (CGN3552 and CODA-4582). For details of this program, please see this thread.

This thread will be used for feedback regarding the firmware.  We've invited @RogersSergio@RogersSyd & @RogersBob from our Networking team to participate in this thread.  Your feedback is very valuable and will be used to enhance the firmware before it is released publicly.

Thank you for your continued feedback and support.

2.0.10.26T2 was pushed on March 27 and running stable until yesterday when I lost several channels on the 4582. Signal strength changed from all positive to many negative. Is this a cable issue or caused by the new software release? Maybe a reboot will help, but likely will reset the modem to .24

Download speed dropped somewhat but Upload now significantly worse to around 30 from 40-50 previously. Any suggestions?

Call Rogers ask then to check your signal, and your neighbours signals to see if this is only effects you, or your entire node. Your SNR levels are very low, they should be around 38-40.

26T2 here.  Are you saying that SNR < 38 should have Rogers call?

The SNR target is > 25 so your values are perfectly fine.

For signal level, -10 to +10 for downlink are acceptable values. For uplink, it is a lot more complicated and depends on the modem you use (DOCSIS 3.1 or DOCSIS 3.0) and the bandwidth of the channel (3.2 MHz or 6.4 MHz).

Thx @gp-se...... Signal Strength on the 4586 should be closer to zero but SNR according to @RogersDave should not be < 25 but would agree with you that ideally s/b around 38 - 40. We need better bench marks for all these various displays.

A Factory Reset may fix my missing channels.....but likely will go back to V.24.....yet worth a try. If no changes....I'll call the cable guys.

Came across a issue with 2.0.10.26T2 and probably previous releases where the applied security policy using "Device Filter" in managed devices would inexplicably flip from "Block Listed" to "Allow all", without any known trigger.  There were no reboots of the modem or action in the log file that could attribute to the phantom change.

How did I know this?  My son had internet access at a time where he should be denied access by the policy.

I posted this in the other forum but should probably post this here.   Speeds were okay a few days ago but suddenly I've seen my WiFi connection fall off a cliff.

I'm on 2.0.10.26T2 and am getting HORRIBLE WiFi speeds.  When I was able to get speeds of upwards of 500Mbit, I'm lucky to see 80-100Mbit right now.  Any way of going back to an older version because this is unacceptable.  Thanks!

I have had no speed issues with 2.0.10.26T2.  You may want to try a pin reset.  Check for co-channel interference on both bands and choose the best channel available.  You can use the Wireless Survey option to help you pick a channel or use a freeware WiFi scanner, like inSSIDer.  I tested my modem with an Intel 8260 chipset client and was getting speeds over 350Mbps on the 802.11ac band.

I'm here a lot

im currently on 2.0.10.26T2 and having a weird issue. I use kodi on a macbookpro using wifi and another on an android box using ethernet connection, when i have both on at the same time, the internet is painfully slow on the android, if i physcially disconnect the cable from the modem and plug it back in it works for a couple mins. Now if i have only the android or macbook on i dont have any issues at all.   how do i revert back to the previous firmware as we didnt have this issue before.

Re: FEEDBACK - Rogers Rocket Wi-Fi Modem Firmware Trial

Sounds like an issue that @RogersDave would be interested in.

@Markpa21, to return to .24, run a factory reset.  That will result in .24 reloading.  After that is done, restart the modem.

I run multiple Kodi boxes on various platforms, too. You may want to ensure they all have unique hostnames. I don't have such issues on 2.0.10.26T2.

they all do,  still having the same issue. One device works flawlessly and the other two painfully slow> Ill explain what i mean.  addons load fine but when you try to popluate say for example a season 1 it will take several minutes to get to the next screen as oppose to the one device that works, its instantly popluates the next screen.  And it doesnt matter if its wifi or ethernet still getting the same problem.

@Markpa21
This is an aside, but I think you need to be on the latest version of Krypton 17.1 or so to enable the new requirement for the https streaming protocol that is not supported on older versions of Kodi. If this is something that has just occurred recently, it may be this versus the firmware on the modem.

So for about over a week now, my CODA-4582 has been stable in regards to speeds and minimal packet loss on the 2.0.10.26T2 firmware trial. Although my download isn't reaching full speeds, I am happy it is being stable without requiring any reboots for over a week now.

Re: FEEDBACK - Rogers Rocket Wi-Fi Modem Firmware Trial

yup all 3 are on kodi 17.1

Hey, has anyone seen a large reduction in speed from roughly 900mbps to 700mbps down?? I am on 26t2 firmware and have called to have the line checked, 2nd level engineering said they see nothing wrong with the lines in my neighbourhood.

Mine is still 930 down.

During after school hours it can slow down to 700-800.

Noted and reported.

I see that you ended up swapping your modem? Did you try a factory reset first (which would have brought you back to firmware 2.0.10.24)?

I am chasing another issue right now which is not related to the CODA modem but appears to happen in the core network. I didn't get a chance to look if your modem was impacted by it but want to make sure you problems are all resolved now.

Re: FEEDBACK - Rogers Rocket Wi-Fi Modem Firmware Trial

Good morning Community,

I have received firmware 4.5.8.30 for the Hitron AC series modem. This firmware brings quite a few performance enhancements.

As usual, I have posted high-level release notes in the second post of this thread (here).

I will try to start the deployment today (20 users) and based on the feedback I will move on with the rest of the participants.

As per usual if its for the CODA, @RogersDave count me in on the first round, I don't mind the growing pains if any. 🙂

Received the new firmware release 4.5.8.30 and as 4.5.8.29 i'm losing all Wifi connections. I tried  unplugging modem to reset it, but same thing happens.  Then I tried a hard reset then went through the setup for wifi, after completing it, I checked the modem for the wifi indicator to turn on but only the 2.4g came on for maybe 2 seconds and it never showed again after.  As for the ethernet connection all is working as it should only wifi  is not working.
