Hello Community,

We are currently offering our users an exclusive opportunity to participate in an upcoming trial of the new firmware for our Rocket Wi-Fi Modem (CGN3ACR, CGN3AMR and CGN3ACSMR) and Rocket Gigabit Wi-Fi Modem (CGN3552 and CODA-4582). For details of this program, please see this thread.

This thread will be used for feedback regarding the firmware.  We've invited @RogersSergio@RogersSyd & @RogersBob from our Networking team to participate in this thread.  Your feedback is very valuable and will be used to enhance the firmware before it is released publicly.

Thank you for your continued feedback and support.

I'm getting horrible download speeds (SpeedOfMe = 8.65Mbps ... Rogers test = 10Mbps) and I'm paying for 100Mbps.  I see some people have upgraded firmware on the CODA-4582.  Mine is 2.0.10.9.

When I restart everything (modem, 8 GB port switch, ...) I get 30-4-Mbps ... but it downgrades throughout the day ... within hours.

Chiming in on intial .23 fixes:

- SMB access to LAN hosts, eg. NAS, from Wireless now works

- Port 1 negotiates to Gig rates

- Wirless performance on 5Ghz, 802.11ac down about 35-40%

Login to the modem and post your signal levels, or call Rogers support and ask them to check your signal levels.

I ended up calling tech support.  They asked if I had a little black circle sticker on the box, or on the back of the modem.  I didn't.  They then said there is a recall.  I brought it in and got a new one.  Seems to work better now.

Try to reset modem using reset button in the back.

@Aim_eYacht A modem reset via the rear button was the first thing I tried (seems to be the recommended action after a firmware upgrade); in the initial setup, the wizard will not accept spaces or special characters in the SSID nor the password fields. Funny enough, if the SSID is alphanumeric and the password contains a special character, it tells me the SSID is invalid. Once the wizard is complete, the web interface won't accept special characters or spaces either.

CODA-4582 (2.0.10.23)

Narrowed down my performance issues by turning off the 2.4Ghz interface.  @RogersDave This seems like a serious error in the firmware.

For those of you having performance issues on .23, turn off your 2.4Ghz radio and retry.

Got the .23 firmware. Did a factory reset and now I'm only getting 100+Mbps download and  24Mbps upload on a gigabit connection.

The 2.4 Ghz is a known issue and I reported this 1 month ago here:

http://communityforums.rogers.com/t5/forums/forumtopicpage/board-id/Getting_connected/message-id/389...

Thanks for that.  I did not see this issue until .23 code.  The slowdown eventually affected me after a while even though 2.4Ghz was off and 5Ghz on.  Had to reboot and I'm still leaving 2.4Ghz off.

Apart from maybe not wanting to spend the money, is there any other particular reason why some people are still using their modems as gateways? I've had virtually zero problems using my modem in bridge mode connected to an Asus RT-AC68U router. Regardless of internet provider, these all-in-one modem/gateway devices are horrible as anything more than just modems. Do yourselves a favour...bridge the sucker and get a decent standalone AC router.

I agree with that, but... I think a lot of people take the principled view that since the providers provide these devices _and_ heavily market them, the gateways should work and they shouldn't have to buy another router.

The issue i reported above on .20 and above are happening to me on Bridge Mode. I am connected to AC87u and seeing Speed issue on .20 and above FW only ( Currently on 23)

.19 and below.. no issues in the past ..

We are paying for a service, which includes support of the infrastructure and local routers.  If they just want to sell us a pipe, then remove the cost for support of the devices in our monthly fee.  That's not going to go well from the marketing standpoint.

On my router, I just turned off the 2.4 Ghz and updated the devices that were 2.4 Ghz only.  I scan over 20 2.4 networks in my area and channels 1, 6, 11 are all used as well as others.  I would never get any decent speed on that channel so 5 Ghz @ 80 Mhz (and 160 Mhz when available) is the only way to go to get fast wifi speeds.

Now the following devices are running well with the .23 firmware and 5 Ghz 80 Mhz:

- Google Pixel

- iPad Air 2

- Roku 3

- Google Chromecast

- Google Chromecast Audio

- Laptop (with Intel AC network card)

Firmware .23 has reduced download speed by about 130Mbps and upload by 30Mbps for my setup.

Before .23: 930/50

   After .23: 800/20

I am in Bridge mode. I did notice that in Gateway mode i can get about 900 down, but still only 20 up. So this one (for me) has affected something on the download when going through a router, as well as affecting upload regardless of the setup.

I tried a reboot, and a factory reset, neither has restored previous speeds. This is an average over a few days testing at different hours of the day, so I'm pretty sure it isn't just neighbourhood usagage related.

Lucky you ..

.23 reduced my download speed in half .. getting maxed at 400mbps ..

Did you do a modem restart/reboot, and in the worst case a factory reset after the update?

I also noticed that changing the firmware and getting the new modem seems to have dropped my speed as well and on a gigabit plan, I rarely exceed 600 Mbps.

If I didn't know better, I would say that Rogers cannot deliver the speeds they claim and are just flat out lying to us.
