Hello Community,

We are currently offering our users an exclusive opportunity to participate in an upcoming trial of the new firmware for our Rocket Wi-Fi Modem (CGN3ACR, CGN3AMR and CGN3ACSMR) and Rocket Gigabit Wi-Fi Modem (CGN3552 and CODA-4582). For details of this program, please see this thread.

This thread will be used for feedback regarding the firmware.  We've invited @RogersSergio@RogersSyd & @RogersBob from our Networking team to participate in this thread.  Your feedback is very valuable and will be used to enhance the firmware before it is released publicly.

Thank you for your continued feedback and support.

Would there be any side effects with leaving IPV6 on for thoseo f us who bridge? as it's rather useful for online gaming (Xbox Live) and thisi so ne of the major reasons people are so keen to get this new modem with the puma 7 chip. due to gaming latency issues.

What type of IPV6 does roger deploy in a bridged state. I have been using DHCPv6 with prefix delagation on my router, because it works proerly. Native IPV6 from ISP does not work mor me.

The problem is that the current software built was not certified for IPv6 operation at all. There may be issues that we haven't identified yet and allowing IPv6 to be enabled (knowing there are issues) would be a major support pain point.

The average customer, even those running in bridge mode, would not be able to easily identify if a problem is caused by IPv6 or not and it is equally difficult in this specific scenario for our support teams.

I am a strong IPv6 advocate but on this one, I really had to strongly recommend IPv6 to be temporarily disabled.

Makes sense, I'll still gladly deal with routing ports properly on ipv4 if it means i can grab this new modem and not have a poor gaming session.

Just for some background information, the new Intel Puma 7 chipset that is featued in the CODA-4582 is fabricated on a 14nm process, which means that it is much more power efficient than the Puma 6 chipset. The efficiency in the Puma 7 chipset allows Hitron to include a power supply inside the modem  which is why there is no external power brick!

I have the new modem. Is it weird that the power light doesn't come on but the rest do

Have you seen how HUGE the new modem is in person?

I love the built-in power supply, but... I don't think that the inclusion of a power supply has anything to do with the Puma 7's power efficiency. Maybe Rogers and other MSOs were just tired of trying to keep track of external power bricks...

Yes, that's weird.  From your pix looks like you've got a bad led for the power as the power light should be on.

Everything looks to be working ok.  So just probably a bad LED.

Are they going to release this in black? White is going to look terrible with all my gear. Or am I going to have to buy it and spray paint the casing lol.

Don't know if my area is experiencing an outage but all of a sudden the CODA has caused the speedtests not to work or very slow.  Was working fine this afternoon.  Have rebooted, factory reset and nothing.

Re: FEEDBACK - Rogers Rocket Wi-Fi Modem Firmware Trial

just got the new modem, major speed issues, websites are barely loading, most are timing out. Signal strength is identical to my old gigabit gateway (good signal). DOCSIS logs show 20 entires of Sync errors. My area isn't DOCSIS 3.1 yet, no ipv6.

Gonna see if this sorts itself out tomorrow morning.

A big thanks to @RogersDave and the team for all the hard work on this issue.  Nice to see a big Company engaging with users like this.

Surprised the CODA-4582 is white.  But, I'm actually starting to like the look of it.

On Rogers speedtest got:

Ping 5ms

Jitter 1ms

Download 945.88  (previously around 750 on the 3552)

Upload 45.93 (same as 3552)

No ipv6.

I faced a similar problem on the new modem aswell, however a REBOOT of the modem fixed issues for me. I also heard that other people face this problem but a reboot of the modem fixes it. Also, I reccomend restarting your pc to make sure it properly adjusts to the new modem. Oddly enough, whenever I get a new modem installed and connect it to my PC, I usually get very very slow speeds; a restart hoever fixed that.

@Windwalker You seem to be one of lucky ones who have DOCSIS 3.1 enabled in your area! Enjoy the fast speeds and ping Smiley Happy

I'm near Victoria Park and Eglinton in Scarborough.  You're right.  I have been fortunate to always have had a good connection in this area.  When I had the 250u package, it was always a consistent 320 down no matter the time of day.

Can I go to the local rogers store and get the 4582 model?  How do I know they actually have this one and not the 3552 I currently have?

What benefits will the new modem give me on the gigabit plan?  Is the 2.4 ghz or 5 ghz range better?

Thanks

I would appreciate it if the range of the 5Ghz band on the CODA-4582 could be increased/improved within the modem's next 2 firmware updates. The range of the 5GHz band is pretty weak in comparison to the CGN3ACSMR. With the 4582, if I am 3 metres away I would have 2 bars on my s7.

@Alex4161 The range on 2.4GHz is great, but the range 5GHz band needs some improvement.

@RogersDave, for those of us who were on the firmware trial with our now-returned old Puma 6 modems, should we recontact you/@CommunityHelps to sign up for future trials on the new modem?
