Hello Community,

We are currently offering our users an exclusive opportunity to participate in an upcoming trial of the new firmware for our Rocket Wi-Fi Modem (CGN3ACR, CGN3AMR and CGN3ACSMR) and Rocket Gigabit Wi-Fi Modem (CGN3552 and CODA-4582). For details of this program, please see this thread.

This thread will be used for feedback regarding the firmware.  We've invited @RogersSergio@RogersSyd & @RogersBob from our Networking team to participate in this thread.  Your feedback is very valuable and will be used to enhance the firmware before it is released publicly.

Thank you for your continued feedback and support.

Re: FEEDBACK - Rogers Rocket Wi-Fi Modem Firmware Trial

OK the administrative process is done, now just waiting for 4.5.8.27 to get pushed to my CGNM-3552. I really hope I can see some improvements on WiFi.

Thanks @RogersDave

Just noticed I got the update, so far so good. Latency have definitely improved in IPv4.

I just got the 4.5.8.27 update on my CGN3ACSMR modem.

I read somewhere that I need to do a factory reset. Is this still the procedure? If I do this, will I have to recreate my WiFi networks and passwords? If i just recreate them with the same SSID and passwords, will my devices recognize and autoconnect?

Thanks!

Re: FEEDBACK - Rogers Rocket Wi-Fi Modem Firmware Trial

I've always done a factory reset whenever a different firmware version is loaded on my modem, and it doesn't matter if I'm moving up or down in terms of versions.  I've never had any issues after running the reset, which is why I recommend doing it.  If you load the same SSIDs and passphrases, your devices should autoconnect as before.

If you run into any problems please let me know.

Re: FEEDBACK - Rogers Rocket Wi-Fi Modem Firmware Trial

@payam81 I'm afraid that you won't see any improvements in wifi performance.

The next step should be to look at the wifi environment with inSSIDer to see who you are competing with for clear channels.  The link below is for the last freebie version of inSSIDer.  When loaded on a dual band laptop, it will show both 2.4. and 5 Ghz networks that the laptop can receive.  It doesn't properly display the 802.11ac networks in the 5 Ghz band.  For that you would need a licenced version which is only $20 U.S.  If you run 802.11ac networks its worth buying.  So, have a look with that and let us know what you find:

I've got the pixel XL and speed test seems to be fine on 5G, how ever I did modify the channels and settings for optimal performance

Are we getting close to a beta firmware for udp improvements, before x-mas would be amazing.

I'm interested in this too.  A decent online gaming experience would be welcome.

Either or is good. In any case, be sure to mention in your message that you are already on the firmware trial and want to go to firmware 4.5.8.27 on a CGNM-3552 modem.

I just pushed the upgrade your way, it should be there in a few minutes.

Dave

I'm also waiting for 4.5.8.27 to be pushed to my CGNM-3552. Would appreciate if you can send it my way as well.

Thanks.

Hello Community

Last update 5.8.27 (October 24, 2016) IGMP Improvements.

I wonder if you guys will still try to fix TCP/UDP/ICMPv6 latency with a new firmware.. or if you will just wait for new modem and get rid of the modem with the problematic puma chipset.

John

Hi @JohnBeaudin,

I can assure you that we are still working on improving latency and jitter for the existing modem base. There is currently a lot of exposure on this issue with Intel as the same problem have been reporting by major US operators (Cox, Comcast). They are using different modems but all based on the same Intel chipset and all affected by this issue.

Notice that the companies involved are basically staying silent at this point.

@Datalink

Now I completely lost trust in Intel in regards of modems and their puma chipset with such horrible performance.

I hope ISP will start to drop em and look for an alternative.. at the end of the day it's us the user that suffer from laggy modem and it's not the most pleasant customer experience considering we pay for top tier Internet.
