Hello Community,

 

We are currently offering our users an exclusive opportunity to participate in an upcoming trial of the new firmware for our Rocket Wi-Fi Modem (CGN3ACR, CGN3AMR and CGN3ACSMR) and Rocket Gigabit Wi-Fi Modem (CGN3552 and CODA-4582). For details of this program, please see this thread.

Hey @toolcubed,

 

To answer your question, the second black dot was added for logistical reasons involving a small volume of the initial manufactured units. As previously stated, there is no difference between the single black dot and two dot units.

How do I know if IPV6 is enabled on my modem?  I have .24 already due the firmware trial.

Just reboot the modem for ipv6, also the modems will now auto update to .24 once connected to a power source, no more waiting 24-48 hours to get the latest network wide firmware!

I've been here awhile

Ever since i upgraded to .24 my modem has been fine. before i was cutting in and out but had to reset modem every 30 mins.

 

I have used it in bridge mode and it works perfect now.

 

Exception is speed i get around 250mbs and upload i get around 20mbs

supposed to be getting 1000/50 but cant do anything about it...

 

IPV6 does not work in bridge mode but works when i factory reset it and only when i use the modem as a router all in one.

 

I bridge to an apple time capsule 2TB.

 

I really want IPV6 to work on bridge. can someone help me.

@dmbcanda you can use ipv6-test.com after the reboot, or, if you log into the modem, you should see both IPV4 and IPV6 WAN addresses in the upper right hand corner of the data area on the STATUS page.  Thats the WAN IP address section.

@DARKNITE kick the modem into Bridge mode.  After the reboot, connect a pc directly to the modem via ethernet and reboot or start the pc.  It should pick up both IPV4 and IPV6 addresses.  Bring up a web browser and go to ipv6-test.com   That will test for both IPV4 and IPV6 addresses and connectivity.  At the very best you will see 19/20 for a test score in the upper right hand corner of the data block.  If you are running a windows pc, you might see less than 19/20, 17 or 18, can't remember.  That tells you that you need an IPV6 ICMP inbound and outbound exemption added to the Windows Firewall rules. 

 

To prove that a trace works, run an IPV6 trace:  tracert -6 www.google.com

 

The goal here is to ensure that the trace runs past the CMTS, all the way to the end target without timing out anywhere along the path, which could indicate a server configuration problem with the last identified server. 

 

If that all proves out, then its time to disconnect the pc and connect the router.  Restart the router and after connecting the pc to the router, restart the pc so that it picks up a new IPV4 and IPV6 address.  Run the same test at ipv6-test.com   If that fails the IPV6 portion of the test, then the issue is with the configuration of the router.  Here is a link to a post from Dave for IPV6 configurations for various routers.

It doesn't contain an entry for Airport routers, but, hopefully you can pick up the details to configure your router for IPV6 over Rogers network.  After you set the configuration, reboot the router so that it picks up both IPV4 and IPV6 addresses from the CMTS.  Then retry the ipv6-test.com again to see how it has worked to that point.

Hello. thank you, now i got 10/10 for IPv6. now i just have speed test problems. i cant figure out if its its rogers end or my end. everything seems stable on .24

All your signal levels look up to spec. Have you tried rebooting the modem  & your computer since being updated to .24?

@DARKNITE your power levels and signal to noise ratios for DOCSIS 3.0 look good.  The level shown for DOCSIS 3.1 is apparently not correct, so, I can't tell you how the 3.1 power level or error ratios are doing.  The fact that your running 3.1 and seeing slow data rates doesn't surprise me unfortunately as it seems rather common these days. One thing you could do is call tech support and ask the CSR if the DOCSIS 3.1 Modulation Error Ratio (MER) is within spec, whatever that happens to be.  You might stump the CSR, or, perhaps you will chat with one that knows exactly what you are referring to.  The DOCSIS 3.0 Signal to Noise ratios are actually MERs in disguise, measured and calculated in the same manner, only difference is, the 3.1 MER data is not presented to the user at this time.  The CSR should have access to it and might be able to determine if there is an issue with the 3.1 frequency band.  If so, maybe a tech visit is in order, but, this is all speculation at the present time.  This is a learning experience for all involved at this point.  

 

If you do call tech support, please let me know how it turns out.

@dallasdinatake, bring up MS Edge on your XBox and go to ipv6-test.com to check out the IPV4 and IPV6 addressing on the XBox.  Hopefully you will see a score of 19/20 at the upper right.  Please let me know what that score happens to be.  If its something like 4/20, reboot the XBox and test this again.  If you get the same result, restart/reboot the modem and then reboot the XBox.  The purpose here is to get IPV6 up and running on the Xbox.  

 

After that is said and done, using MS Edge, run a speedtest at www.speedtest.net using the Toronto Rogers or Montreal Rogers server, which ever is closer.  Toronto Beanfield and Montreal Fibrenoire works as well. 

 

Can you let me know how that works versus the XBox speedtest.  

 

Last that I heard, Dave has a ticket in with Microsoft for the Xbox, and Akami for Sony's Playstation for poor performance.

Score I'm getting 19/20 on ipv6 I'm getting 203.80 down/ 31.20up ping 11 on ms edge. Now on the actual Xbox speed test itself I'm getting under 100 download and 18upload ping 85

I am running codea black dot with r7000 In bridge mode with asus merlin latest firmware version but I didn't factory reset when I updated it

Those results do make sense although I don't know what the top end of the Xbox actually is.  Will it go much beyond 200 Mb/s, don't know?  Maybe other XBox users can chime in here.  I was reading in another forum that the XBox test goes back to Seattle, so, if true, that accounts for part of the low speed and latency score on the XBox test itself.  What do you see on a speedtest with a pc that is connected via ethernet to the modem or router, which ever is applicable?

 

Edit;  If you already have .24 on the modem, all you should have to do to see IPV6 up and running is to restart/reboot the modem.  Pull the power, wait for 30 seconds and power it back up, and, you should then see IPV6 on the router if its enabled on the router.  Just to note, on my RT-AC68U, after I enable IPV6, I have to reboot the router to get IPV6 up and running.  I haven't restarted my modem just yet, but, if its the same as the CGNM-3552, you won't see the IPV4 and IPV6 addressess on the modem when its in Bridge mode.  Those addressess will only be seen on the router, and for the IPV6 address, possibly after enabling IPV6 and rebooting the router.

Ok, thats not too bad.  Nice rate for a phone!  Just wanted to be sure that there wasn't a modem issue at play here, at least one that could slow the XBox test rates.  Looks like the XBox itself isn't terribly good when it comes to data rates.

Personal opinion, Safe Mode is not required for speed tests.  Yes, one can argue that ditching various drivers and applications should result in a higher data rate, but, I don't know of anyone who deliberately runs in Safe Mode on a daily basis.  If that's required to see higher data rates, then there is an issue that needs to be addressed, but it shouldn't be required day to day.
