Re: CODA-4582 - Open Issues for Investigation

I'm on the gigabit package with a computer connected by Cat6 ethernet cable directly into the CODA modem.

Since swaping to the newest model CODA modem with the black dot, my speeds increased to the 400-500mbs range. Still not acceptable but much better than the sub 100mbs speeds I was getting with the first CODA modem.

Yesterday, frustrated with the wifi performance, I attempted to bridge the CODA and use a Linksys AC1600 as my main router.

This made things worse. The wired speeds are now in the 150-170mbs range. I've tried rebooting a number of times but it doesn't resolve the issue. I called Rogers tech support and they said, of course, that everything looked normal. I was told to unplug the linksys router and plug my computer into the CODA modem's WAN port while still in bridge mode. This technician explained that this is the fastest possible connection. After doing this I was still getting download speeds in the 150-170mbs range. I rebooted and CODA and tried again and my speed increased to the 400-500mbs range. So, I tried connecting the linksys router again. Once again the speeds decreased to the 150-170mbs range.

I'm losing my mind with this gigabit package.

Any suggestions on why this is happening?

On a side note, Time Warner in New York was sued by the state of New York for advertising and for providing false internet speeds to their clients. How long before a class action lawsuit is launched here in Ontario?

IF you want out of the contract, Canadian law dictates that if they are unable to provide you with the service you pay for there are no cancellation fees.

I had to use this part of contract law when I moved as my Cellular provider could not offer me consistent working service.

Re: CODA-4582 - Open Issues for Investigation

I am quite surprised, since the .23 push on my CODA.

I am getting slightly better ping in online game.

For the first time I was pinging 55ms the whole match during a match of Dota2 ( mach lasted about 1 hour). the average is usually 65-70 ms.

so Today I decided to try CSGO, and I was getting 48-52 ms in 2 differents server, on these official servers my ping used to be 64-72ms.

I am still on D3.0 , so I wonder why I have seen a small improvement, anyhow I welcome the improvement and hopefully it will get even better as soon as D3.1 hit.

I've had the same exsct issue. To Rogers credit I have called every month I get my bill and ask for and gotten a full credit for the cost the Gigabit package. I should be getting 850-950+ and instead I'm getting consistency below that with an average of 450. At this point I'm just fed up but as I said they have credit fully and I will ask for this until there is a stable firmware on Coda.

Power cyle the modem by pulling the plug, the channels shoudl come back. Mine rebooetd around 2am and I lost two channels. They are back after power cycling the modem.

Re: CODA-4582 - Open Issues for Investigation

Hello Community,

I am sorry that I have not been able to answer all your questions in the last 3 weeks but I have been really busy trying my best to make everybody's Internet better 🙂

From the reports that I've seen on this forum, there seems to be a significant number of CODA-4582 users that are experiencing an issue where their speed goes down to almost 0 on a daily basis. This is currently handled as a CRITICAL issue and we have Hitron, Intel and CASA at the table working on the problem, around the clock and 7 days a week. There was some progress made last week-end and I am hoping to see this translate into a fix in the next few days or possibly next week.

Aside from that, we are also aware that firmware version created issues with SSID names and password. This is being tracked right now and will likely be fixed in the next full release.

As soon as I receive this firmware and it passes basic engineering tests, I will deploy it to all participants in the trial firmware program.

I still have a lot of messages to read on this forums so please be patient as I handle all the priorities.

I know Dave, Hitron and Intel are trying to localize and resolve this issue. many of us seem to have this issue randomly, me atleast once a day.

Re: CODA-4582 - Open Issues for Investigation

Appreciation for the reply @RogersDave

I have been having the speed degradation on .23 (after not getting it on .19) and after physically separating my modem and router (Airport Extreme 6th gen). There is about 6 ft between them at this point. No other changes were made. I have all my channels and it hasn't changed after two full days.

I just wanted to offer it up as a datapoint for you.

As a bit more info here are my signal levels after the two days. Also note - before moving it I was never able to get channel 24. As you can see all channels are now available. Fingers crossed it stays this way.

Re: CODA-4582 - Open Issues for Investigation

I made complaint to CCTC and as per them my complaints are valid. President's office now is looking into the issue. Ombudsman too. Figercrossed, I am let out for free. I need to resolve getting out of Rogers ASAP though as Bell is offering me similar package as Rogers for more or less the same price.
