Re: Brutal latency/ping Recently

Hey.

I'm having all the same issues as these guys are... Can you help me diagnose this?

DOCSIS

easo.ea.com

This is what EA says to test for. This is absolutely messed up. Anyways, I'm trying to play Battlefield1 on EA servers. I know its not theirs because nobody else is complaining. I know these results are weird...

I use a wired ethernet connection. Just showing this to show that my link to the router is good...

The ping test to 64.71.255.204 (bad too)

Pingplotter to 99.249.122.1

I have the CODA-4582 with the 2.0.10.36T6 firmware.
I'm from Midland, ON area. Gigabit plan.
Used to work great. Now its atrocious. I don't notice it for downloading but I'm sure there are a lot of re-transfers going on I'm just not aware of them...

I personally think the modem is pooched but you seem to really know your stuff so I thought I'd run it by you first.

I run the net-state in the Battlefield game and the Pkt loss is occuring before I even begin PLAYING the game. Like when its the opening lobby or whatever... It never works, however I played ONE game before dinner a couple nights ago and it was perfect!

Maybe Rogers needs to fix some routes or something? Maybe I got old connectors. My cable line is suspended in the air.

Re: Brutal latency/ping Recently

Yes it’s not only you I got friends who play EA games online with other providers in my area and I’m with Rogers playing together in the same game and my ping / latency is always higher for some reason we play ea nhl 20 so I’m thinking it’s the route Rogers takes to there servers it’s been like this for a long time now games are non playable with delay and slow

Re: Brutal latency/ping Recently

Your signal levels are a little on the high side.
'within spec' is technically between +/- 10... and your sitting up near 9.
So that could possibly be effecting things.

Re: Brutal latency/ping Recently

Thanks. Is that likely due to the cable/connectors or the modem itself?

Re: Brutal latency/ping Recently

Hey @youutube88,

It's difficult to say exactly where the issue may lie at this point. The issue could be due to several different things. It will be best that we take a closer look at our end so we can check a few areas, run some further diagnostics and rule certain things out.

Re: Brutal latency/ping Recently

I've been experiencing the same problems as well for the last 6 months. I have tried several times to reach out, they have sent three techs and switched my modem out as well. I tried to get help again yesterday, tech support stated all their tests were fine but that they could switch the modem to be sure... Why would I switch the modem if the tests are fine? I am overly frustrated, I work from home and this is causing issues!

My modem is: Hitron CODA 4582U

Modem Software: 2.0.10.36T6

Is there anyway to get this resolved? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Brutal latency/ping Recently

Hello, @Caitwyn

Welcome to the Rogers Community Forums!

Dealing with any kind of packet loss is a major nuisance, especially when it's affecting your ability to work from home. =(

The signal levels look really good but that packet loss is a big issue. Since you've already had numerous technicians out we'd like to review their notes before determining how to proceed. Please send a private message to @CommunityHelps so we can review the notes on your file and run some tests on our end.

Re: Brutal latency/ping Recently

Same here for the last few weeks online gaming is unplayable. I've contacted tech support they sent a "technician" all he did was swap out the modem and a few hours later same problem. I bought a Nighthawk router put the rogers modem into bridge mode and still the ping and latency spikes. Here in Canada we pay way too much for internet, I'd be content with the high prices if the service provided was worth it. Do we have to threaten to leave Rogers to get the service we deserve.
