i haven't been able to speed test higher than 500mbps with a wired connection, I am on a gigabit connection.

Hi
i have 1gb home internet
but everytime i test the speed
i only get 60-90mbps download
and 15-19mbps upload
i even use Ethernet cable on my laptop but still same .

@Haniyounan does your laptop have an ethernet port built in, or are you using a gigabit to USB 3 gigabit adapter to connect to the laptop?
Do you have a desktop that you can test with?
Do you have the new Ignite TV service which uses an Arris or Technicolor modem as seen by the product sticker at the bottom of the modem, or, do you simply have the Ignite internet service which uses a black Hitron CGN3xxxx modem or white Hitron CODA-4582 modem where the modem model is found on the back of the modem on the product sticker?

Ok, can you have a look at your modem to determine what model it is? Are you running the new Ignite TV service?
Whats the highest download rate that you've seen with your laptop anywhere else? Just wondering what that data rate might be. To run high data rates with a laptop, you need a workstation or gaming type of laptop. Anything else is really hit and miss unless you do your homework when buying the laptop.
In order to test the modem data rates, you need to know just how fast that laptop can run. If the laptop supports 900+ Mb/s, great. If not, then its a problem when it comes to judging modem performance.
As an example, we had an ultrabook at one point that wouldn't do anything over 200 Mb/s, over ethernet or wifi.

Slow Internet speeds but when downloading from steam is fast

I'm having a weird issue, lately my 1gb on CODA has been really slow on all my devices wired and wireless. Running multiple speed test through speedtest.net, fast.com, Roger's speedtest, and Rogers MyWifi app all show speeds under 20mbps from 900+mbps. Roger's in house techs came with a supervisor (3 techs) at the same time came out and using their laptops wired to my modem registering the same speeds as all my tests. They said maintenance will have to come out and look at the issue from Roger's side. Today I noticed something strange, I had a PC game that required a 35GB update and my internet maintained a 45MBps(300mbps) wired assuming it was fixed, speedtest still shows slow speeds. I attempted to download a large file from Microsoft download center but speeds are slow again. Tried the speedtest app on android phone connected to 5ghz next to the modem and speeds tested under 20mbps. Tried to download a game from steam and my speeds were all over the place but it peaks at 300+mbps but it's all over the place, when I try to stream on netflix, the video is locked at 1080p when tv used to stream 4k. Anyone see this before?
P.S all signal levels are in spec by Roger's standards. Modem's DOCSIS events reported some T3 errors and Modem and all CAT5 cables have been replaced
P.s.s I'm using an Asus RT-ac3200 triband with Qos off and CODA is bridged, but during testing, router was off and CODA reset back to factory.

I have been having the same problems - my speedtest - and the speed tests of the Rogers techs who have been here - are way below what they should be (and what I am paying for). They said there is a work order to fix their network but I think that is just lip service.
Just for grins try downloading the CLI version from speedtest.net. This is a batch speedtest and I find
that is shows speeds way in excess of what you get from the windows version. This just proves that speedtest itself is flawed and you don't know who to believe.

So Upset with Rogers Internet and Cell Phone. 1gbps? More like 10MBPS
So tired of Rogers right now. I've been having a problem with my internet for more than a year. At first I had 100 or 150 mbps download speed. It would test around 20-30mb and sometime test at around 5mbps. I couldn't really do much with it so I decided to upgrade to 1 GB Per second Assuming it would be so much faster! I have had it for about a month now and have had nothing but problems. It is worse than the 150mbps. 5g is absolutely useless unless I am standing beside the modem.
Even with the 5g standing beside the modem the absolute highest I test at is 30mbps. Most times its around 15-20.
In my living room where I use my internet the most I can't even connect to the 5G. (Its about 10-15ft away from modem.) The other connection I get around 10mbps if Im lucky. Which is atleast internet except it cuts every other minute. After numerous phone calls and restarts it is still the same. Just spoke to a lady who said they were going to wipe it and restart it from their end which worked before for a day but this time its even slower than before I called.
She said she is going to send me a new modem and see if that works but if it doesn't I will likely change internet providers.
Now here is the even bigger pain, since the Corona Virus is going on and I've been locked in my house for the last 6 weeks and the internet has been trash cutting in and out, When I am on my phone the internet will cut out and go to Data without realizing it. I just got a notification that I am $150 over on my Data for my phone with still 8 days to go! I spoke to the mobile department and they said there is absolutely no way they will refund the data overages even though its there fault I am over! I have been with rogers for years and have had bad experience after bad experience!
Any ideas on how to fix this? At this point I might as well just switch over Cell phone and internet over to another company with better customer service. I pay $270/Month for absolute garbage internet and garbage customer support.

I can imagine how frustrating it has been dealing with slow speeds for such a long time, especially if you are on the Gigabit plan.
It sounds like there could be an issue with the modem. Once you have got the new modem, let us know if issues with slow speeds are persistent.
With regards to your wireless services, what type of device are you using? To ensure you are not using data unintentionally please turn off the Wi-Fi Assist/Adaptive Wi-Fi feature. This will ensure your device doesn't switch over to data if the Wi-Fi connection drops.
Keep us posted on how things go with your new modem.

After reading these post, seems like I'll stick to my Ignite 500 which gives me same speeds mentioned by those with Gigabit.

This is really annoying... Rogers tech just left and the best we can get is 190Mbps on Rogers Gig. Currently I am under 90Mbps DL consistantly. Its not a complicated setup at all... 1 GW, 2 pods, 4 laptops, 2 TVs. Unacceptable. What can be done?

Hi,
I have been living with slow internet but paying for full 1 Gig service. The internet disconnects everyday, and sometimes two or three times a day. The Hitron logs shows T3-Timeout. Few technician came to the house and just changed the router with no help. Then one last technician said "the barrier will need be changed". I have been waiting for this Barrier replacement for almost 2 months and nothing is scheduled yet. Everyday I call tech.support and everyday they close the ticket without my consent at night saying "we couldn't find the problem". One last technician today told me "this is not Rogers issue, go buy yourself an Echo Beacon for $200." I asked why not the barrier needs replacement, she said that all previous technicians knew nothing. Why would I buy echo beacon, if I already have DLINK booster? i think she is sending me to the wrong direction.
Anyway, is there a work around if the barrier replacement takes too long?

Slow speeds can hinder the Internet experience; we can help diagnose the issue and find a solution for you.
Is the Internet dropping on a WiFi connection? Most of the time, you don't have to worry about T3 timeouts. Can you log in to the modem and post the Downstream, Upstream and OFDM sections from the Status/DOCSIS WAN page? So we can examine the signal levels.
Sorry, the term 'barrier replacement' is not familiar. I believe by 'Echo Beacon' you mean eero beacon. Most likely eero Hub and beacon were suggested to extend the WiFi coverage.
Please also provide the model of the D-Link equipment you have so we can suggest a proper setup for it.
