Bundle cheaper than internet alone??

papamia
I've been around

I recently moved to Toronto and set myself up with Rogers internet on a 24 month contract.

After 2 months I decided to look into getting Xfinity TV as well. I was quoted a bundle price that's  less than what I'm paying now just for internet. The agent said the internet speed would stay the same and I'd get  a box for free. All I need to do is sign a new contract which is no issue for me since I'm only in month 2 of my existing contract.

What's the catch here? I must be missing something

The catch is that if you cancel before the end of the 24 months, there will be fairly large cancellation fees.

Internet has comprised the majority of bundle costs for a while now. It depends on the TV package.  Does it have the channels you want?   You need to check on the channels and perhaps consider paying a bit more if the bundle doesn't have the channels you want.  Also, be sure to check the fine print and the offer line by line, so that you're not missing something that may make the overall price higher than you think.  Reps love to exaggerate to draw you in.  Get everything in writing before agreeing. Do research on the various bundles and channels on the Rogers website.

When you signed up 2 months ago, perhaps you didn't negotiate the appropriate promotional pricing for new customers, which can sometimes be significantly less than regular price.
