XB8 Asus router, how to turn off wifi on XB8 and only have it on Asus router

Hey!

I just recently got a Asus router, I want to use it as my main Wifi connection. I want to turn off the wifi on the XB8 so no one can log into it if they get the password (also I hope that disabling this will allow all wifi strength to go to the asus). I also don't see a bridge option on my rogers ignite app, i tried to use the http://10.0.0.1 link, but for some reason i can't log into that what so ever. Maybe it's rogers way of trying to get you to only use the app. Or do i need to contact rogers and have them disable wifi on my modem?

I'm somewhat of a noob when it comes to this stuff, I just want to make sure that all my connections will always go through the Asus router. Thank you for your time and help :).

Try rebooting your rogers gateway and then log into 10.0.0.1. If that doesn't not work then rest the gateway to defaults.

Yes bridge the gateway and use your own router then you have better control.

Thank you for the reply!

I’ve hit the button on the back of the modem, and it rebooted. I believe I’ve rest the gateway, not sure if I’m doing it correctly. Makes me set up my user name and password, still can’t get onto the link as well, I’ve used the name and password on my modem, I’ve used the admin and password as well and used the admin with my personal password too. Do you have suggestion on how to factory rest the modem? Or am I missing something when trying to go onto the website. Thank you

@Ikkin89 To factory-reset the XB8 gateway, you need to press and hold the WPS button on the back of the modem for 30 seconds.  If you did this correctly, you should see the status LED flash (green?) quickly, then the gateway will go through its restart sequence after which, the status LED should flash white, indicating that the gateway is ready for initial setup.

At this point, connect to the gateway with a web browser, and follow the prompts to perform the initial Wi-Fi setup.  Once complete, log in as "admin" (the password is "password"), follow the prompts to set a new admin password, then log in again with the new password and enable Bridge Mode on the gateway.
