Band Steering does not work properly

disillusioned23
I plan to stick around

Rogers Ignite......just found out the sprinkler wifi controller can not connect. Now along with the security cameras having to be connected by cable, this system is a bust......now what !!!!! Don't have the balance of the day to spend on the phone with tech ( LOL) support. As far as I know the band steering is on, just wont hold it.

Tried to log on to router but it just times out, so that is no good either....what the heck Rogers, this stuff is for all intents useless. We even have problems with one tv blue screening , so has to be constantly reset......wifi signal is fine everywhere in the house.

Seem the 2.5 is just not reliable, why do I have to spend so much time fooling with this . I am paying good money for.......wonder what would happen if my payment checks constantly bounced and needed attention....hmmm....

Re: Band Steering does not work properly

I did rename the 5 and 2.4 and it worked. Did not realize that was not auto enabled when changed to ignite. Old system worked without the naming change so it seemed logical....  FYI....the blue screen had nothing to do with the cable, it was resolved with a new set top box

Hello, @disillusioned23

It is disappointing to hear about the issues that you have been facing. There can be connectivity issues with devices that can only connect to 2.4G Wi-Fi.

One thing that has worked for others would be to change the name of the 5G Wi-Fi network then ensure all of your devices connect property to the 2.4G network. Once connected, you can change the name of the 5G network to match the 2.4G network. Your 2.4G devices should remain connected. If you are using Wi-Fi pods it will not be possible to change the name of the Wi-Fi networks so this will not work if you have Pods.

The TV blue screen issue is usually related to a poor HDMI connection between the box and your TV. Please try another HDMI port on your TV or try another HDMI cable to see if the blue screen issue persists.

I hope this helps!
