Question about Rogers wireless band coverage

I'm about to purchase an unlocked Redmi phone with the following technical specifications:

GSM / HSPA / CDMA2000 / LTE / 5G

Frequency bands are:

2G:

GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900

3G:

HSDPA 800 / 850 / 900 / 2100

CDMA2000 1x

4G/LTE:

1, 3, 5, 8, 19, 34, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42

5G:

1, 3, 5, 8, 28, 38, 41, 77, 78 SA/NSA

Will my phone work under rogers network?

Our network availability varies by frequency; devices that support more frequencies, both within a network and across different networks, will have access to more wireless coverage. 

Here are the requirements for a Non-Rogers device to work on the Rogers Wireless Network:

Compatible with the following GSM and UMTS frequencies: 

• 850MHz (Band 5)
   

Compatible with the following LTE frequencies:

• 700MHz (Band 12)
• 850 MHz (Band 5)
• 1900MHz (Band 2, Band 25)
• 1700/2100MHz (AWS) (Band 4, Band 66)
• 2600MHz (Band 7)

Compatible with the following 5G frequencies:

• 600 MHz (N71 DSS)
• 1700/2100 MHz (AWS) (N66 DSS)
• 2500 MHz (N41)

So as long as my phone has 1 compatible band with rogers wireless LTE I can get full speed with no signal problems？

Hi @EnxiSu!

If you have a phone that is only compatible with 1 of our supported bands, you will almost certainly encounter circumstances where you'll have no service because not every one of our towers broadcasts on every band.

I would always recommend getting a phone that supports every band that Rogers uses in order to avoid any service related issues.

One important aspect to be aware of when buying these cheap Asian market devices.  Even when using Global ROM's, their VoLTE, VoNR, and WiFi Calling implementations are not compatible with Canadian and US carriers.  The US shutdown 3G networks last year and a 3G network shutdown is coming in the future for Canadian carriers.  If you really want something cheat that works with a lot of North American carriers.  Devices from NUU and Blu are excellent in value as well as in compatibility with North American carriers.  I know a few people with NUU B20's that have nothing butt good things to say about their devices and their experiences on US and Canadian networks.

Only deployed at n78, so 5G.  That said.  That doesn't mean n78 is available everywhere Rogers lists 5G coverage.

I am learning how this all works. I am looking at Tower Locator Canada, and my Rogers tower shows 700, 850, 1900. Which ones are LTE, and which LTE bands are those (B12 etc?)? I'm buying a phone and want to make sure it works on LTE on that specific tower. Thanks!

Just to confirm, all three of the frequencies you've indicated should be compatible with LTE devices.

no, it won't. Because it doesn't work for me. Does not have N71. But there are three others: 66, 41, 78, and it also does not work in 5G.

At that point, with shipping, you'd be better off buying a flip phone from Rogers directly!
