Smart TV - No internet connection.

My almost 10-year old smart TV worked fine before my router got upgraded to xfinity xb7. Now everything else can connect to the internet, 1 laptop, 2 cells, 1 tablet. Tv can only connect to home network but no internet. I tried every method: unplug and plug the tv and the router, reset the tv network settings, restore the factory settings and then set up the network, wireless and wired both tries. I can see the tv from the gateway portal 10.0.0.1 and my rogers xfinity app. I still think it must be some configuration of the router but the xb7 has a lot of things automated. Any ideas? Thanks.

I had another try. Since the tv connects to the 2.4 GHz wifi, i disabled the 5 GHz, and this is another failure.

Since it is an older TV try switching the WPA from WPA3 to WPA2.

Try a wide open wifi, no password and see what happens.

try connecting the tv to the modem with ethernet cable if you have one

Well seems there is the fimal verdict. The tv is at fault, can't even connect via cat5 hard wired.  No need to proceed further. Perhaps you can look into firmware update for your TV.

@xc123 is there any chance that you have to enable the ethernet port in the tv's system settings, and at the same time, disable the tv's wifi in order for ethernet port to function correctly?  

Are you testing with a direct modem to tv ethernet cable, or using the house ethernet system to connect to the tv?

What's the exact model of the tv?

Also makes me wonder if the TV's OS is so far out of date, that it just can't use the apps from a lack of updates. I had an old Hisense from 2013 that had this issue but using an nVidia Shield instead of the TV's smart functions was cheaper than buying a new TV. Netflix and other apps block use on older platforms because the platform isn't secure and updated DRM in use does not work.

It's a Philips 4000 series tv, there is not much settings I can choose, just wire or wireless. I only have 1 xfinity that is connected to the cable.

I think the same way. Probably just buy a new tv.
