Hitron CGN3 WiFi Failure

I've been here awhile

Hey all,

My WiFi mysteriously stopped working today. Both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Access Points are showing as "in service" in the admin portal but only the 5 GHz light is lit on the modem. Neither AP works. The SSIDs are not being broadcasted either. My wired connection to my PC works fine. I've factory reset the device several times, to no avail.

Has this happened to anyone? Is my modem defective?

@citrus005 have you looked at your wifi environment with a wifi scanner?  If not here are some freebie scanners you can use:

If you've already done this, take the modem in to the nearest Rogers store and swap it.  Put a note on it to indicate that the wifi is completely dead.  Sounds like the wifi controller might be toasted.  Before you take it in, call tech support and ask if you need a work order drawn up to swap the modem.  That's come up with customers who want to upgrade to the white CODA-4582.  Don't know if the same applies now for customers who need to swap a modem due to a modem failure.  If you have an unlimited internet service plan, then you're eligible for the 4582, but, as I indicated you need a work order drawn up to swap to that modem.  Make sure that you take the power brick to swap as well.

@citrus005 if I read your intentions correctly, that you're going to look for an aftermarket modem, that won't work.  Rogers will only allow modems on the network that they have tested and approved.  And at the current time, the internet plans have the modem cost built into the plan.  There was a short time span where customers could buy a CGN3 modem, but Rogers has since changed their practice of allowing customer owned modems on the network.  I suspect that at the moment, the only customer owned modems allowed on the network might be the CGN3 modem.  Anything that is customer owned and that predates the CGN3 modem would only be a 4 or 8 channel modem and wouldn't be allowed back on the network these days.

the user name will be 

 

cusadmin

The password by default is just 

password

But depending on the setup of the unit, the password is usually changed to be the same thing as your wifi pasword.
