Echo dots and ring doorbell

I've been here awhile

I cannot get my echo dots or ring doorbell to connect to my rogers wifi. I’ve heard the solution is to have your 2.4 and 5ghz bands separated. Has anyone else run into this problem?

And have you tried renaming one of the wifi names? More than likely ending bandwidth steering will solve your problem.

I've been here awhile

Ever since switching to rogers, my Echo dots and ring doorbell have been a constant issue. I have only been able to connect 3 of my 4 Dots to the wifi, but only after many repeated attempts and factory resets. The last one refuses to connect at all even though it is a newer model, can see the network, and is actually listed as connected in the Ignite app. The Ring doorbell refused to work even though it was saying it was connected and performed an software upgrade. Then out of the blue it started working for a few days and now has crapped out again.
My wireless printer worked for a day, but no longer. Still showing as connected in the app.
I’ve also had to release and renew my up address on my computers multiple times.
I’ve had the gateway modem replaced once, I have a pod hooked up, wifi signal is strong all through the house. I’ve only had it 2 months. Never had this issue with bell.
Am I screwed for the next 3 years?

I have 7 dots, 3 Echo's, and an echo show. All if which are connected to my 2.4GHz WiFi with the security set to WPA2. If your dots are older than my 3rd Gen dots and second Gen Echo's. You might need to reduce the security on the 2.4GHz to WPA.

My dots are 3rd gen and the one I can’t get connected is 4th
I’ve tried splitting my bands but the 2.4ghz band has no internet access once I do so. I haven’t been able to figure that out yet.

I know it can be frustrating when WiFi devices won't connect. Have you tried reaching out to the manufacturer of these devices for direct troubleshooting support? 

 

We can run some tests on your connection to make sure everything is well on our end. This sounds like a WiFi specific issue, so it's possible you need another pod.
