Rogers Frequencies

momotarotaro
I've been here awhile

I'm about to purchase an unlocked AT&T phone with the following frequency band:

  • 2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
  • 3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
  • 4G Network LTE 700 MHz Class 17 / 1700 / 2100

I read that Rogers network band are:

  • 2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
  • 3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
  • 4G Network LTE 1700 / 2100 / 2600

Will my unlocked AT&T phone have 3G and 4G on Rogers' network?

Thanks

Re: Rogers Frequencies

Hi there
I am planning to get a Sony xperia z5 premium dual in hk to use with Roger, what should I be looking for? I hear LTE in hk is totally different from Canada. I want to get a phone that will work with LTE in Vancouver, what is the freq or band that I need?

Thanks

Unlocked phone

Hi I am buying an unlocked cell phone and it has the following frequencies:

2G: GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz
3G: WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100MHz
4G: FDD-LTE 800/900/1800/2100/2600MHz

Will this work on the Rogers network?

Re: Rogers Frequencies

OnePlus 3 Compatibility

Hello

I am planning to purchase a OP3 from Hong Kong (Europe/Asia model) with the following connectivity specs:

Network: GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz

WCDMA: Bands 1/2/5/8
FDD-LTE: Bands 1/3/5/7/8/20
TDD-LTE: Bands 38/40

Just wondering if it will work with Rogers and more importantly if I will get LTE connectivity?

Thanks in advance

Rogers Frequency Compatibility with a Chinese Smartphone

Hello,

I am thinking of importing a Chinese smartphone but I am wondering if it will work with Rogers Wireless with the following frequencies of the Chinese smartphone:

FDD-LTE+WCDMA+GSM
2G: GSM 900/1900/2100MHz

3G: WCDMA 900/2100MHz
4G: FDD-LTE 800/1800/2100/2600MHz

I plan to stick around

Something to consider with frequencies is whether the phone covers LTE band 17 i.e. 700 mHz.  Rogers has, and continues, to roll that service out in many areas.  The lower frequencies are better for pentetrating obstacles such as trees and cover longer distances than the higher frequencies.  So theoretically the 700 MHz band may be better in fringe areas, providing Rogers has deployed it in the area.  I'm don't have a strong knowledge of the technology but I think that is the case.

As long as it were not too much more money I personally would look for a phone that includes the 700 MHz in its frequencies.

Re: Rogers Frequencies

KCO, Very good discription of how this works.

As a Construction Manager for the Rogers recent upgrades, I have seen a lot change in the last 15 years. The 700 mHz is one of the better changes for the long distance LTE while the 2100 & 2600 LTE cover high speed and capacity in the densely populated areas. Since the 700 Band 17 is new it is not covered in some stats but here is a link to what is compatible to most of Rogers Wireless. More changes will be coming in the next 2 years.

Re: Rogers Frequencies

I am planning to buy a Xiaomi RedMi 3 Pro Prime.  Before I proceed, I need to makre sure if that phone is compatible with the Roger's network.  That phone uses the following network frequencies

2G: GSM 900/1800/1900MHz
3G: WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100MHz; CDMA 2000: BC0
4G: FDD-LTE 1800/2100/2600MHz

I don't know too much about phones and network frequencies but do all the numbers have to match?  (e.g. for 4G only the 2600MHz is compatible with Roger?)

Thanks.

Hi,

Will Xiaomi RedMi Pro Prime 32Gb works with Rogers?  It uses the following frequencies

Network:
2G: GSM 900/1800/1900MHz
3G: WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100MHz; CDMA 2000: BC0
4G: FDD-LTE 1800/2100/2600MHz

I think Rogers uses 2G 850/1900MHz, The phone can only uses one of the 2 bands

Likewise for 4G, Rogers uses 700/1700/2100/2600.  The phone can uses only 2 of the 4 bands.  Will I get drop calls?

Hello @cyberguy69 aka Frank,

Welcome to the Community Forums and thank you for your patience! Smiley Happy

In theory, no you should not have dropped calls.  The phone should be compatible with our service, however, please keep in mind we cannot guarantee the functionality of an unlocked device on our network.

Re: Rogers Frequencies

  Hi all,

The Rogers network uses the 850 & 1900 WCDMA for voice calls and the 700, 2100, & 2600 for Data usage.

If your phones are unlocked and have these frequencies they should work fine with no issues.

Re: Rogers Frequencies

I imported an unlocked Xiaomi Mi Max to use on the Rogers network... knowing that I may have some network issues.  I'm just hoping someone can explain my best / worst case scenario and provide any tips to improve connection.

I understand that the phone operates on the following bands:

2G bands GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - SIM 1 & SIM 2
  CDMA 800 / 1900
3G bands HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
  CDMA2000 1xEV-DO
  TD-SCDMA
4G bands LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 7(2600), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(250

I also understand that Rogers broadcasts on several bands, including LTE 2600... so I was hoping LTE would work.

Ultimately what I have working is HSPA 60% of the time, dropping down to 3G about 35% of the time, and then dropping to no signal from time to time.

Is there anything I can do to get LTE to work?

Assuming not, is there anything I can do on my end to help stabilize the HSPA connection to avoid dropping down to 3G and no signal.

I'm mostly in downtown Ottawa.

Thanks!

Re: Rogers Frequencies

Godd afternoon @estoppel,

Thank you for your post & Welcome to the Forums!

I'm sorry for the late reply Smiley Embarassed

You should technically be able to consistently use your imported device, as it should be compatible with Rogers' network. While using a non-Rogers phone, we can't assure you that you access our LTE network. However, the 1900 MHz spectrum ia available nationally, and it should be working with the phone you purchased.

Did you make sure that you had the proper Rogers LTE APN Settings?

Re: Rogers Frequencies

My current plan is only for calling and texting. My phone supports 2G: GSM 900/1900/2100MHz, Will it work with 850/900/1900/2100MHz?

Re: Rogers Frequencies

Hello @mikelee1

Welcome to the Forums!

As previously indicated in this thread, you should be able to use your non-Rogers phone, as it is compatible with some of Rogers' frequencies. Howeverwe can't assure you that you get access to our LTE network.

Simply make sure that you add the proper Rogers LTE APN SettingsSmiley Wink

I'm an advisor
Rogers Uses:
GSM, UMTS, HSPA and HSPA+ at 850 MHz and 1900 MHz

LTE:
B4 (1700
B7 (2600)
B12 (700)
B17 (700)

You'll only get 1 LTE band with that phone (B7) 2600

Re: Rogers Frequencies

what does it mean? 1 LTE band with that phone (B7) 2600? we still can use the phone and internet network with rogers in canada, right?

Re: Rogers Frequencies

gp-se
I'm an advisor

depends if it supports the HSPA, EDGE frequeinces that I posted. LTE may not work everywhere, only areas with B7 2600

It's always better to buy the North American version of a phone for maximum compatiblity

Re: Rogers Frequencies

What this means is that Band 7 runs at 2600 Mhz and is operational on many of the Rogers Wireless sites in Canada. So yes you will be able to use your phone in Canada where it is up.and running. All major cities will be available for your Internet service.
