Hey!
I was recently charged for 10 text messages that were apparently sent from the us from Canada. I am very frustrated as Rogers claims that they “verified” the texts and they were valid.
I was unable to find any such messages on the phone. I was originally told that they were text messages but the number I was given does not exist as I attempted to call it. I was later told that perhaps the messages came from an app such as WhatsApp, messenger or discord. Upon checking everything on the phone I came up with no solutions. Rogers has not been very helpful and I feel that they are not taking my concerns seriously. Anyone else feel at a loss for answers in a similar situation?

Have you recently downloaded a texting messaging app that could be generating these charges? Or maybe someone has texted you using one of these apps which sometimes assigns them a foreign phone number, in such cases if you reply to this person you could end up with US/International SMS charges.

I just received a bill from Rogers showing a charge for 3 whatsapp text messages from Canada to U.S. I offered to provide screen shot as proof but they are silent on my offer.

I was charged for $26 for 59 US text Messages that I didn’t sent or even aware of. I called rogers customer Service and complained about this. I waited for almost an hour and she just gave the number that she said i texted and it was in New Jersey. I asked to investigate and make a deep dig about this situation as we dont even know that number and person. And the Date and time of the Messages does not coincide with the event that we were into that day, which make us impossible to text. Up to now, no solution has been done. Im just scared if this kind of a hack, scam or fraud. Does Rogers have protection for customers if this is like a hack from our account?
I hope Rogers will take action About this matter .

This exact thing is happening to me, and i'm in the middle of chatting with a Specialist from Rogers after the Agent refused to believe me, and stated all texts are valid and nonrefundable, no explanation no help. I am transferred to a technical specialist who is helpful and will raise a ticket to the back office to see if i can get credited , but i don't know what is causing this and if it will happen again as Rogers has no answers. The numbers are Area codes: 651 :Minnestoa, 475 :Connecticut, and 850 :Florida . I don't know anyone in these areas and i don't know WHAT the messages were and what do they contain, specially that one of them is a PICTURE/VIDEO message and i'm worried what it contains. the specialist said there's nothing they can do although i indicated I have dug so deep into my phone, and settings, and permissions, and ran malware and antivirus, and there's nothing suspicious, and any indication of any text sent to USA is Rogers systems ! but all I got was a ticket was created for me to get a refund ! ..

hello everyone. I too have been charged for outgoing texts from canada to us. for the last 4 to 5 months i have seen charges for those texts, of course only a phone number appear on my phone and no text attached to them. one of the number belongs to tellus after a google search on one of the number. Rogers response is it is my WhatsApp!!
My son is looking into it, and soon as I have a answer i will post it. If rogers does not find a solution Bell may get a new customer. BTW my phone is a android 8, my wife has a I phone(6) 🙂 and she does not have those problems.
too many of us have this problem and maybe the media would be interested to that.
