Why can't an existing line be converted to a 55+ account?

jstimson
I've been here awhile

I have been a Rogers customer for decades.  Having recently retired, I don't need massive amounts of data or a ton of features on my wireless account.

Rogers offers a 55+ account, but it's only for new activations (!?!).  How does that make sense?  Do they think that all existing customers die at age 54?  Apparently, I made it past that age and want to convert my existing line over to that.  Otherwise, I'd lose my number, which would be an incredible hassle.

Stop treating customers you don't have yet better than the customers you already have.

Good evening @jstimson and welcome to our Community!

While we may not be able to offer you a plan that's only available for new activations, we will be more than happy to review your account to see if there are any targeted offers available to you. We can also go over different price plan options with you.

Please send us a PM @CommunityHelps to get started!

It may sound silly but it is how their ancient internal systems work. Someone on the back-end should be able to make this happen though through an account migration. They can move services from other account types. Maybe someone up in the Office of the President needs to be tasked to do this manually to get something in place to make this process easier in the future.

The other alternative is to port out your number to a prepaid service and them port it back in to a 55+ account and plan. Definitely a hassle that comes with some added costs and inconveniences for you. Is the savings worth it I'm the long run for you though?
