Collection Issue

nkarpi
I've been around

Hello,

I have had an account sent to collections from many years ago. I was struggling financially at the time when I closed my account, but there was an outstanding bill for the equipment. I have returned the equipment, however I still have this collections debt appearing on my credit score.

I am no longer able to find a paper trail of my account, I do not have the account number, I do not know where to call to reach collections, I do not have proof that the equipment was returned, as I dropped it off at one of the store locations and was assured it would be taken off my account.

Is there any way I can just get the amount removed or settled as I have returned everything that needed to be returned? Again, this was from many years ago and I still have a debt of $783 appearing on my report? Please let me know.

Good day @nkarpi,

Welcome to the Rogers Community and thank you for your post!

From the information gathered from your credit report, you may be able to retrieve the collection agency the debt is assigned to. In return, the collection agency can provide the Rogers account number associated with the debt.

If you wish to contact us via private message. we may be able to locate the account in question, using your personal information, as well as the phone number and address associated with the cancelled account.

To allow us to do so, feel free to send a message to @CommunityHelps,so we can go through the authentication process and gain access to your account. To learn how to send us a private message, check out this blog.

To be able to dispute the amount owed, it would be useful if you could pinpoint the date on which the equipment was returned or the serial numbers linked to the hardware. That way we could initiate an investigation on the location of the equipment. However, if several years have passed it may not be found at our warehouse.

Let us know if you have questions and feel free to reach out via PM if you want us to take a deeper look into this. Thanks!
