Whole Home WiFi Promise?

Bor3dcanuck

Perhaps I’m missing something here but shouldn’t “whole home internet” or the “ignite wifi promise” mean something? Technicians diagnosed that my router is not meeting all “corner to corners” of my home but still want to charge me for wifi pods? This is disgraceful. Anyone have any suggestions? I don’t feel like I should be paying any more for what should be guaranteed service within the walls of my 3 bedroom home.

I have sent a private message to that account. I hope this issue is resolved soon. I cannot use my home office at the moment because of an unreliable connection. While it is easy to say go spend $300 of my own money to buy a wifi mesh system, I feel this basic service should be provided and guaranteed from Rogers without customers needing to pay more. This is an 1800 square foot home. Not a mansion

An update to the situation. Basically, Rogers support continues to agree that a WiFi pod is required, but will refuse to provide that pod for free. This is important for anyone considering Rogers, or in the same situation. The router they provide (XB7) is good, but is not providing adequate coverage for a 1700 square foot home built in the early 80s. It may be worthwhile considering this price tradeoff, if one is forced to purchase their own WiFi mesh system. All that said, the Rogers Ignite Promise/Guarantee is not really anything, since all they will do is demand more money to meet adequate service.

@Bor3dcanuck : The "promise" is pretty clear per the following link:

https://www.rogers.com/internet/wifi

The following quotes are from that page and the "learn more" link. - Pods $5/mo last line in the quote.

Get our strongest, most secure WiFi for all your connected devices with the most powerful modem,1 WiFi pods if determined needed to help ensure wall-to-wall coverage, and a best-in-class WiFi app.

 Supercharge your WiFi coverage

You can place your Ignite WiFi Gateway modem almost anywhere when you add Ignite WiFi Pods. Get smart coverage for stronger, faster WiFi even if you have a large home with multiple levels, or just want to take your entertainment outdoors. Just plug in a Pod inside your home, about halfway between your modem and the problem spot!

· 2 pods or more are ideal for extending WiFi outdoors (when pod placed inside strategically) or homes with 5+ bedrooms

· 1 pod is ideal for 1-2 storey homes with 3-4 bedrooms

Want Ignite WiFi Pods?

Call 1-888-ROGERS-1 to add Ignite WiFi Pods to your internet package for just $5/mo each.

PS.  My house is pretty small too - about 1400 sq. ft, two storey, but it's over 3 levels including the basement. The gateway works great over 2 levels, however, I have a Powerline adaptor for the basement level which allows me to use Ethernet for my IgniteTV box and WiFi for my laptop/tablet/phone when I'm using them down there.
