Unable to connect Microsoft Surface 3

Sampom
I've been here awhile

Hi, we switched back to Rogers yesterday from Bell and we last had Rogers for Ignite Internet in June or July 2023, so not terribly long ago. However, now I can't connect my Microsoft Surface 3 to the WiFi. I tried the band steering trick and turned off the 5 GHz and 6 GHz options already but it still wouldn't connect. Wondering if I am missing something? This was never an issue with Rogers or Bell before. Thanks!

Try connecting from a distance outside the range of the 5G WIFI which will force a 3.4G connectionj and once your connected you should be good to go.

Hmm I had already turned the 5G off completely and it seems like the computer wouldn't connect to the network at 2.4 GHz either. Any idea how far I would have to be to force the 2.4 GHz connection? Or where I might find that info out? Thanks so much for your reply!

I think its about 49F or 15M. You could also try completely removing your WIFI setting and setting it up fresh. Also, be sure to switch off band sharing, and use the 2.4G ssid to logon.

Thanks so much! I'll try that later this evening. 🙂

Re: Unable to connect Microsoft Surface 3

If that doesn't work. Turn off the auto for the.channel for each and set the channels manually. 3, 6, and 9 are usually the most compatible on 2.4GHz. You might also want to try setting the security to WPA/WPA2 as there are still a lot of devices that do not support WPA3.
