Slow Speeds on Ignite Gateway

I've been around

I recently set up my new Ignite Internet Gateway, and now my download speeds are way down to 50 Mbps, prior to setting up the new gateway/modem, I was getting 250 Mbps on average, so I asked the question do I still need to use my router ??

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Yikes! 😬 I know firsthand how imperative it is to ensure you stay connected with consistent speeds. Do you have any third party equipment set-up at this time? If so, are you able to remove it and connect directly to the modem and re-test to see if you receive a different result?

 

I'm also going to tag in a few of our Resident Experts @Datalink, @-G-, @Gdkitty, that are quite tech savvy and can hopefully shed some light on the issue you're having along with some suggestions.

Download speeds can vary, depending on a variety of factors.  However, you should (almost always) be able to achieve the maximum attainable speeds with the Ignite gateway running in "gateway" mode.  Using your own router is optional, and is only truly required when the Rogers-supplied gateway does not offer functions that are important to some advanced users.
