Rogers Ignite Gigabit Very... very Slow Speeds

ToxikRick
I plan to stick around

I live on the Hamilton Mountain, and I just subscribed to Rogers from Bell. My Rogers speeds on Gigabit have never been more than 45-50mbs. Mostly, it's 10-24mbs. Rogers speed tests usually show 900mbs-1gbs, but speedof.me shows 300mbs. MY wifi shows no more than 37mbs-72mbs.

I got to the point of having a tech come out, and he did a bunch of speed tests and said there wasn't an issue. He said I will never get more than 50mbs with the 2.4ghz, and I would have to go on 5g. I tried that when he left, and same speeds... until it dropped. Now I'm going from no service, to 10-15mbs. Even Rogers speed test is showing 30mbs-57mbs now.

I'm at a loss... hoping for help here. Anyone else experiencing these issues in my area?

I will post this just in case... as I've seen it posted by others:

I've been here awhile

Unlimited Giga Download Speed Slower Than Upload

I have rebooted my Hitron many times but my download speed doesn't meet the prescribed speeds.
Download 25 Mbps
Upload 28 Mbps

Re: Rogers Ignite Gigabit Very... very Slow Speeds

Hey @johnaprieto,

Thanks so much for your post, I hope all is well at your end. 🙂

The speeds your are getting while on Gigabit internet are most definitely concerning and seem to be well-below the normal threshold.  If you don't mind, we just need a bit more info to better understand your situation:

1. What is your present modem configuration? Do you have any other third party equipment such as a router, power bar, etc. included in your setup?

2. How long has this issue been happening?

3. If the issue occurring both via a direct, Ethernet connection and on WiFi?

4. Did you recently relocate your modem to another area of your home or change any of your settings?

5. Is the issue happening on multiple devices? Which devices are affected?

We look forward to your response!

The router is connected to the power bar just for power source. I have 4 Ethernet connections to the router. 2 are connected to the laptop, 1 for smart hub and 1 for tv streaming.

2. How long has this issue been happening? For at least 5 months now. It happens on and off the day.

3. If the issue occurring both via a direct, Ethernet connection and on WiFi? Ethernet and wifi corrections.

4. Did you recently relocate your modem to another area of your home or change any of your settings? No changes before the change in bandwidth speeds.

5. Is the issue happening on multiple devices? Which devices are affected? All devices that connect like laptop, mobile and streaming devices.

Re: Rogers Ignite Gigabit Very... very Slow Speeds

Hello, @johnaprieto.

I appreciate your response; the info provided helps in isolating the root cause.

I'm assuming by the router; you mean Rogers' modem. Can you bypass the power bar and plug it in directly to a wall outlet?

What's the best speed do you get on a wired connection when it's working?

When you are getting slow speed, can you please post the Downstream, Upstream, OFDM/OFDMA sections from the Status/DOCSIS WAN page of the modem? This data will help in analyzing the signal reaching your modem.

Cheers,
RogersMoin

I plan to stick around
Paying for gigabit and getting 20 mb and the tech I chatted with online said everything looks good on my end

I'm frustrated beyond a point here... I'm paying for gigabit not 20 mb plan

Brand new modem too which was swapped yesterday
