Hey Community,
As of today April 24th! Rogers is happy to introduce the launch of Dual SIM/eSIM via 34 of our Flagship Rogers Retail locations (see chart below) where we will be assist you with set up and answer any eSIM/Dual SIM questions you may have.
What is Dual SIM/ eSIM?
eSIM is SIM Card that’s embedded within a device. A physical eSIM card is required, as a QR code is scanned and is downloaded to the device, eliminating the need for a SIM tray and SIM card.
Currently the only Dual-SIM devices— iPhone XS, XS Max and XR —support both an eSIM and a Nano SIM; this means you will be able to use two phone numbers (Primary and Secondary) for calls, messages, and data.
If you want to activate an eSIM, you must first have a physical SIM activated on your eligible iPhone (with Rogers, or even with another carrier if their device is unlocked).
At this time eSIM can ONLY be activated as a BYOD plan with a generic IMEI number.
What’s in it for you?

Why is eSim available on prepaid plans only and for new lines only? It does not reflect positively on Rogers to put limitations on new iPhone technology that customers have paid for? I just purchased an iphone X because I need two lines on the same phone. Very unfair and frustrating. Apple should get involved to clean up this scam.

Hi @Moya,
Welcome to the Rogers Community Forums and thank you for your post.
Are you looking to activate an eSIM on an existing subsidized device? Have you had a chance to view the post about Re: eSIM For Non-BYOD - Timeline?

Good Evening @Moya,
You should be able to accomplish what you want with your Business line. You do so through Rogers Direct. Please see the following blog post regarding it, Dual SIM is Now Available for Business Customers!

Hey Community,
Previously, eSIM was only available in certain retail locations. Good news! As of October 17, 2019 eSIM is available in all retail locations (except Best Buy).
You can also place an order to get an eSIM sent out through customer service, just like any other SIM card.
Check out these useful articles for more information:
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to let us know!

Hey @blueambition420,
Thanks for your post! Sorry to hear you've been having issues activating your eSIM line.
In order to activate certain eSIM devices at Rogers, you are required to scan a QR code in order to complete device activation. You can purchase an eSIM card by visiting a Rogers store or by calling 1 (888) ROGERS1. An eSIM card like the one below is used.
For more information, please refer to post 48.
Hope this helps!

I'm pretty frustrated...I went to a few Rogers locations and nobody knows anything about eSIM. Can I activate a prepaid monthly plan on an eSIM? I have an iPhone Pro Max, physical sim card is my work line and all I want to do is activate a monthly prepaid plan ($10 monthly - Talk & Textplan) for my personal line on an eSIM. Thanks

Hello @Moe9898,
Thanks for being a part of the Rogers Community Forums and for posting your concern! 👍
I am so sorry to hear that the locations visited were not better equipped with the answers you were searching for--I can understand why that would cause some frustration. We'll try to do better going forward!
If you have an enterprise or corporate cellular service plan, I'd recommend checking with your company's telecom administrator to see if they authorize the activation of a new line using an eSIM on the corporate account to be used on the Dual SIM device.
Generally speaking, when it comes to eSIM/Dual SIM supported devices, you should be able to activate a second line with a prepaid plan. You would need to go to a Rogers store to purchase the eSIM and have it activated, and then they can help set you up with a prepaid plan, or you can call into our prepaid team during regular business hours to have the plan added. It might be better to visit one of our corporate stores to have this done and you can find your nearest location HERE. If you'd like to speak to a care agent over the phone, here is the contact information for that:
1-Dial: 1-800-575-9090
2-Wait for language selection to finish
3-Press option 4 for “General information”
4-Press option 4 to “Contact Rogers”
5-Press option 1 to reach a live representative quickly
Their hours of operation are as follows:
Monday – Saturday: 8 am – 9 pm
Sunday: 10 am – 8 pm
I hope this helps! 😊

Wil rogers ever get up to date with esim support

Some providers elsewhere allow customers to log in online and print out an eSIM QR code for free. By charging $10 for a plain piece of printed plastic, Rogers is using this avenue as another source of virtually free revenue. Sad!...
At least they’re willing to mail the eSIM card to the customers now, so one does not have to go in person to a store. I changed my phone recently and they did just that.
