Slow mobile data

slowmobiledata
I've been here awhile

I recently switched from a 2nd tier provider Virgin to a top tier provider Rogers.  So far, the experience has been severely underwhelming.  The mobile data is slow as molasses.  I went from strong service and reasonably fast 4G LTE, to about 3 megabits per second on a good day with Rogers.

It's so slow and unreliable, I switched to 3G and it was better.  Heck even 2G wasn't much slower than Rogers 4G.  That's pretty weak.

It's not my phone either, it's the network because at my office, my 4G Rogers LTE is just fine, I can hit 30+ megabits which is quite acceptable.  Too bad you can't try before you commit, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered switching to Rogers.  Disappointed so far.

So, Rogers CS / tech support has confirmed that they only have 1 tower in one of the fastest growing parts of Burnaby and that Telus has 3.  The area is littered with condos and they are building dozens more and the service can't handle concrete very well  In an area full of concrete condos.  That's why Rogers service is slow and their competitors are faster.  Lesson learned.  Don't believe the network maps.  Tried Rogers in the same location on 5G and it's slower than 4G or 3G.  Rogers needs to invest in the network or they will bleed customers due to very slow internet and poor signal.
