pfSense Router Setup for IPv6

mike-w
I'm here a lot

Hi All

I am trying to setup my pfSense router for IPV6 support on a bridged modem.

I searched and found a number of posts regarding it and have configured them based on their comments but I was not able to find a combination that actually functions.

After making the configuration changes, I then went to https://ipv6-test.com/ but the IPv6 test dies at IPv6 not supported.

Should this be working or have others had similar problems.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

OK, solved.

In System/Advance/Networking

Greetings and welcome @mike-w!

While we can only offer direct assistance for Rogers services and products, perhaps one of our intrepid Community members has had some success setting this up.

Is there anyone out there that can help our friend out here?

Regards,

@mike-w have a look at the following post to see if it provides any additional information that might help:

Perhaps @JKnott can offer some assistance here.

Select Use IPv4 connectivity as parent interface.  Also, you may want to select Do not allow PD/Address release, to keep your prefix from changing.

Thanks Datalink

That was the one I started with and its settings.   So, no joy there.

Thanks, no joy there either.
I am looking through the logs trying to see if I can find the DHCPv6 request going out, but I have yet to find it.

You can also do a packet capture.  To do that, shut down pfsense and disconnect WAN cable.  Reboot pfsense and run Packet Capture, filtering on port 546 or 547.  Then reconnect the WAN cable and download the capture file.  I don't see any way to attach a file here, so you may have to email it to me or put it elsewhere, where I can find it.

Good plan. I have no issue doing that. I gather doing a capture on those ports with pfsense running is not of value?
Around here, pulling the WAN cable is like removing the oxygen from the house.

Yeah, it's what you have to do to capture the full DHCPv6-PD sequence.
