So For the Past Few Days I have Noticed Youtube Is not watchable i did some testing and nothing points to my connection having a problem this all points to youtube/rogers CDN servers failing as some "Stream Host" seem to be working but almost all of them dont. This problem is on browsers as for trying this on mobile android youtube app 720p60 seems to hold a stable 13mbps while on pc 1080p60 seems to start @ 50000kbps to a min 1000kbps. My internet speed is fine line quality is good while doing the test i had twitch.tv streams running on source no drops nothing in bandwidth flow same for downloading tested on multiple browsers Firefox| Chrome
Below is a gif showing what happens Notice how the "stream host" changes and bandwidth begins to drop

@alloverthemapMG are you familiar with the PS4's Receive Window scaling issue? I wonder if the same issue applies to the Youtube / PS4 combo?

@alloverthemapMG have a look at some of the following google search links:
From what I remember, there should be a post or two on this subject in the gaming thread. There is a post or a link somewhere that lays out an easy to follow procedure for setting up a proxy server on your pc to serve as the download server for the PS4. Apparently that speeds up the downloads by a considerable amount. I'm just wondering if the same could apply to youtube videos.
Is this issue with streaming videos, downloading videos or both?

@alloverthemapMGwrote:I am getting to the point of ditching Rogers and going back to my old ISP.
Only reason I came to Rogers is because of a good deal they gave me for their Gigabit internet. Doesn't matter if I can't watch Youtube.
My download speeds are fine any time during the day/evening so I know its not speed. Like you mentioned they are perhaps throttling Youtube traffic from certain devices?
Ditto, i called support last week and apparently they never heard of anyone having issues with youtube. I asked if it was their cache servers and they said they don't have any for youtube, i was getting tired of rolling my eyes. Should i just keep calling everyday?

Hi,
Anyone found a range of IPs that can be blocked to make this work better?
How do we know it's Rogers? Is CDN owned by them?
Thanks,

I ahve experienced multiple youtube buffering issues with Rogers while viewing 4k video. It appears to only occur on youtube and I have seen across my LG B7 TV and my PC running 4K on Firefox.
I am a new customer so I currently have both Bell Fiber to the home 300 and Ignite 500u installed at my home and have been able to do comparisons. the Bell experience is perfect, and seeking within a youtube video is much faster. I am a little disappointed but thankfully this is the only area where Rogers seem inferior to Bell.
BTW I blocked the IPs referenced in other posts and it only seemed to help a little bit - still having the issues. Even last night watching 4k60 HDR video.
I've signed up for the firmware trial so hoping this fixes things - btw I am on a CODA 4582 V1.

Hi,
If you have tomato firmware, what I think worked for me, I say I think cause I need to test further is you go to Admin --> Scripts then Firewall Tab, you paste:
iptables -I FORWARD --destination 173.194.55.0/24 -j REJECT
iptables -I FORWARD --destination 206.111.0.0/16 -j REJECT
Then you reboot your router and devices.
Hope this works.

Firmware does not make any difference....
Just an FYI

Since yesterday I have had issues with YouTube but only on my PC after adding the Reject that you put in your post on my pfSense firewall things have been a lot better. I never had issues on other clients either just on Windows PC's

Nevermind it's still very slow

To make matters more irritating (or to add to the mystery) the last 2 nights Youtube has performed FLAWLESS on my PS4.
I haven't changed anything on my side.
Good question - Is anyone from Rogers even reading this thread? HELLO?? ANYONE??

Since last weekend YouTube has been slow and constantly buffering but every other website is fine. sometimes YouTube videos can take 5-10 minutes to load at 1080p. It seems to be way worse during the day then at night. I have talked to other people in my area who also have Rogers and they have been experiencing the same issue. I have contacted Rogers and they say my signal is ok and they are not sure what the issue is. The issue is only with YouTube because when I try any other site like Vimeo I am able to load the video within seconds in 4K. I have tried blocking the Rogers CDN addresses on my pfSense firewall but that did nothing.
Here are my DOCSIS WAN Tables if it helps:

can @CommunityHelps find someone who can help with my issue please? or mark as unsolved
04-21-2018 03:56 PM
Are the folks at Rogers even aware of this issue?
1080p, 1440p, 4K - it's all inconsistent. Sometimes it runs fine, sometimes it buffers every 2-3s.
Blocking the IP ranges doesn't help. Blocking slow servers doesn't help. Super frustrating. It's really hard to believe that a gigabit connection feels like dial-up when watching youtube.
