Wyze cam Live view not working outside of wifi.

andrew4ce
I've been here awhile

I have Wyze V3 cameras at home and at cottage.  Both have Rogers service.

Cottage (wireless cellular based modem) - everything works perfect from anywhere
Home - Ignite 1.5 - everything works on home wifi.  Notifications work any time, 12s video works anytime.  Live view does not connect when outside of the home network.
This tells me it's not the phone or app since cameras at other locations work fine.  It's something in the home router.

I've tried accessing from Rogers network and Freedom network, same results.

I've cleared cache on phone apps, restarted home networks and cameras, same result.

Any help appreciated.

Hello, Community!

You may be unable to view Wyze cameras from outside your home network if Advanced Security is enabled on your Ignite Gateway Modem.

While working with @andrew4ce, we discovered port forwarding TCP: 10001 and enabling back the Advanced Security worked. Now, the cameras can be viewed when connected to cellular data.

You can try the above solution if you are in a similar situation.

Cheers,

RogersMoin

Hello @andrew4ce,

Thanks so much for joining us in the forums and posting your inquiry! 🙂

We may need to clarify a few things to better understand what is happening at your end.

- Are you having issues connecting to your Wyze live view camera on the app while on your home WiFi network or your mobile (LTE) data or both?

- When this issue occurs, are you able to successfully connect to other apps?

- Does the issue happen at various locations while outside of your home WiFi network? Or only when you are in a specific location? (Ex: only at work).

- Did this issue just recently begin or has it always been this way?

We look forward to hearing back from you!

Having connecting issues outside of the home wifi network for those cameras.

- When this issue occurs, are you able to successfully connect to other apps?

Yes, all other apps work fine.

- Does the issue happen at various locations while outside of your home WiFi network? Or only when you are in a specific location? (Ex: only at work).

Anywhere outside the home network.

- Did this issue just recently begin or has it always been this way?

Always been this way.

Thanks for any help 🙂

To update... the solution was to test if it worked if I turned off "Advanced Security" in the Ignite app and that did let it work.  I looked up the port needed for the Wyze camera and it was TCP:10001.  I added that port to the Ignite app and then turned on the advanced security again and all worked.  Hope this helps someone else.
