PSA: XB7/CGM4331COM latest firmware update removes WPA connectivity for older/legacy devices

Hmm
I'm a reliable contributor

I have an old iPod that still works, but it can no longer connect to my network. Unlike Telus, Shaw has once again restricted functionality and user options within the app and Ignite/web portal: http://10.0.0.1/.

The latest update, CGM4331COM_7.3p5s1_PROD_sey, has made WPA2 the mandatory setting.

It seems I may need to buy a third-party router where I can bridge it and configure my smart and legacy devices using 2.4 Ghz to use WPA.

Please refrain from discussing why WPA2 is better; that’s not the focus of this post.

@Hmm  Have you tried asking Rogers Tech Support whether they can reconfigure your gateway to use WPA2/WPA mixed mode?  Rogers locks all the Wi-Fi settings but I think that support teams can change how your gateway is provisioned.
