The USB port on the XB8 cannot be used for device connectivity. The only public information about it is a brief mention in the User Manual that the manufacturer submitted to the FCC for certification, which says:
The USB port uses a USB C connector and contains USB 2.0 signaling and power. The USB port is only intended to communicate with Comcast approved products.
