Internet speed

I've been here awhile

So I upgraded from 500 Mbps to 1Gbps, have latest Ignite WiFi Gateway Modem,  have upgraded my Coax cables and upgraded my Ethernet Cable from Cat 5 to Cat 6, as recommended by Rogers.  I am getting an occasional top speed of 700 Mbps, but average about 600 Mbps.  I also have a Gaming tower with a 1 GB Card installed.  Wondering if anyone is having this issue, and if so, any idea what can be done about it?

Re: Internet speed

Greetings @Ashaw2,

We appreciate you following up on the post, and we do hope to work with you to come to a resolution on the issue you are experiencing. As @-G- mentioned, with a direct Ethernet connection from the gateway to your desktop that has a Gigabit Ethernet card, when completing a speed test, you should be getting around 1 GB speed on your results.

Are you able to go through the steps outlined in our Knowledge Base here and once completed, let us know if you are still having an issue.

@Ashaw2  With a 1 Gigabit Ethernet network card, you should be able to attain speeds of 940 Mb/s.  Speed tests over Wi-Fi will also vary depending on the Wi-Fi client and which Ignite Gateway that you have.

Also, where are you located that Rogers still offers 1 Gigabit Ignite Internet rather than a 1.5 Gigabit Internet service?

My speed tests are all run over the Ethernet set up to my system, still cannot reach desired speed.  After just checking, I can see that 1Gb is not offered although I upgraded to it just this past December.  It has never worked as fast as they say.  Prior to that I was running 500U and was clocking in at close to what I am getting now.  No matter what time of day or night I try testing, I never see speeds over 650, again...average is 600.
