Ignite 1.5 Gigabit package averaging 500Mb

glanchbery
I plan to stick around

Hi Everyone,

I subscribed to the 1.5Gb package around the new year and was receiving close to 900Mb when wired directly.  This made sense since my devices only support 1000mb and I was using cat5e or cat6 cables.  However, when running simultaneous speed tests they were able to combine to achieve the 1.5Gb.

However, after moving in the summer to Toronto, the highest I've seen is 700Mb and it is more typically around 500Mb.  There is quite a bit of congestion in the wireless channels but these are the speeds I'm seeing when connected directly to the modem.  This seems a bit strange since the condo townhouses are wired for fiber.

The initial tech who did the setup said that it should clear after the profile gets adopted but never did.  A subsequent tech came out and added some attenuators but the speeds haven't improved at all.  I suspect there is congestion in the connection to the condos in general.

Appreciate any thoughts on the best way to resolve the slow speeds.

I've been here awhile

My 1 gig internet service is barely enough to stream. I am consistently getting the buffering circle
