Every morning, my internet connection has dropped.

I've been around

For the last few weeks my internet is out every morning and requires a hard reset. I have done a few internet searches and this seems to be a common problem but there are no clear answers. I cannot find a clear answer on this forum and other users have noted that Rogers support does not offer any help or solution. So, before I call support I wanted to check here and see if anyone has had any luck with the same problem. Here are the basics of what I have noticed:

  • I get up every weekday morning at 6:45AM. My phone wifi says there is no internet connectivity.
  • The modem has a solid orange light.
  • I hard reset (Unplug for 30 seconds and plug back in). About 10-15 minutes later the internet is back. The modem turns to a red light for a few minutes and then a white light. Works 100% fine for the rest of the day.
  • I do not know when it actually goes out (Is there a way I can track this?)
  • I have seen other people with the same problem mention that the connection comes back after an hour or so; as far as I can tell that is NOT the case for me. I get up at 6:45 on weekdays but on weekends I sleep in until at least 8 and it is still out. Last weekend I slept in until 9 and it was out.
  • I have Ignite 500 and live in St. John's, Newfoundland Labrador.

Before I call support, is there anything I can try or an existing solution that I cannot find?

Greetings @e16mls!

A solid orange light on your modem should indicate that the modem is starting up. It absolutely should not get stuck on an orange light, however. Does this orange light ever start flashing or does it just remain stuck on orange indefinitely until you reboot it?

If this is the light pattern that you're being presented with every single morning, this may indicate that the modem is legitimately faulty and needs to be replaced.

We'd be happy to take a closer look to see what is going on! Feel free to send a private message to @CommunityHelps so we can assist you further. For more information on how our Private Messaging system works, you can find out more here.
