Google Pixel SMS/Chat Not Working

Have experienced the same issue 3 times in two weeks. Sending a message via chat from my pixel fails but if I switch it to sms it goes through. Also not able to receive Google chat from another pixel unless the sender switches to sms. Any thoughts?

Sounds more like a Google problem. I have had that happen as well in the past month or so.

I can understand how convenient it is to be to use the Google Pixel Chat feature on your device over SMS. Please confirm the three points below and let us know if issues are persistent

• Check the Messages app version: Make sure you and the person you're chatting with have the latest Messages app version. 
• Check your default messaging app: Make sure that Messages is your device's default app for SMS. 
• Check your Android version: Chat features only work if you're on Android 5.0 or higher.

Thanks Tony - It's none of those issues.   Tried a couple of reboots and the issue has been fixed.

You may be right given SMS worked OK
