I'm actually not sure if this is a Google Messenger thing, an Android / IPhone thing, or maybe a network thing.
I'm an Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra user (Just ordered a new S25 Ultra)
I'd say that most of the people I have in group chats are IPhone users.
For years I've used Google messenger and have had hundreds of group texts.
At the end of January (26th was the last text received in one of my group chats) I noticed that I was not getting responses from my texts in group chats but I receive all the chats as normal.
After confirming that my texts were not going through to many group chats I've tried without success
1) being deleted and readded to from group chat that couldn't receive my texts
2) clearing cache and force stopping Google Messages
3) clearing cache, uninstalling and reinstalling Google messages
4) switching to Samsung messages as default messaging app and trying to text (and still my texts didn't go through to the group chats that they weren't going to before)
5) oh ya of course shutting off my phone and restarting it.
Nothing has worked. Does anyone have any new suggestions, advice, or knowledge about this issue?

To rule out any usual bug or something on the s20 causing the issue. When you get yoyr s25 Ultra. Do not use SmartSwitch and do not restore any backups to the device to prevent the issue from being carried over, if the issue is with your device.
Are the iPhone's and iMessage users up to date with their iMessage and OS version? Apple a few months back, started intentionally restricting features to devices that are not up to date. Do they have RCS enables in their settings and in the iMessage settungs?

Good morning @chadrutherford!
Do you have any issues sending individual text messages or only group messages in these apps?
If individual texts work without issue, you should reach out to Google or Samsung directly for assistance with their respective apps.

Sorry Corey,
It is only happening with group texts, not individual texts.
Tell me how if the exact same issue is happening with both independent apps starting at the same time, has to do with the apps?
If it was happening on one app and the not the other, I could understand that it was an app issue and it would make sense to be trouble shooting with the app that was acting up.
It would seem to be common sense that when its on both apps are acting the same way, its either a network or a platforms integration issue.
Hence, I'm looking for suggestions from you, my network provider.

Factory reset the s25 Ultra and do not restore any backups. That will more than likely resolve the issue with your group chats.
Edit: Do not use SmartSwitch as well, just in case that wasn't clear. You want a complete fresh start and setup of the device.

My previous phone is packed up to be sent back to Samsung.
I have 5 years (probably more including my previous phone) of information to be transferred
If I factory reset my S25 how do I get all my apps and.files on it again without using smartswitch?

Hello @chadrutherford ,
By any chance, have you tried going into your Messaging settings and toggling RCS Chats on and off?
If that doesn't help, please refer to this support doc for reference: https://support.google.com/messages#topic=9459217
For assistance on the best way to transfer your phone's data, files, apps, etc., I would recommend getting in touch with Samsung directly for advice on that. You can find their contact information here: Product Help & Support | Samsung CA
I hope this helps!

RogersYasmine,
Thanks for your reply.
I have gone and toggled the RCS on and off to see if made a differnce.
When my group responses stopped going through, I had never used RCS or that is was part of my possible experience so my text were always SMS/MMS.
So I turned on RCS to see if that helped or not. I also turned on the toggle that used MMS when RCS wasn't available for the chat.
I have again turned off RCS completely to see if that helps.
Since that I have tried turning it on and off and experimenting but to no luck so far.
I have reviewed that Google page in the past and the information is very generic. Also I have tried deleting the Google messages app and using just the native Samsung app and the results are the same. This leads me to believe that this is not an app issue as if it was, one or the other should work.
If you had a link to somewhere that I could get actual technical help from Google, i'd love that link and I would explore this further with them.
I would have to believe that with both independent apps acting the same way, in that I'm receiving group texts as usual but not able to reply or react to incoming texts its either a network or an Apple/Android glitch/integration issue.
I read somewhere that there may be an issue with group texts with Apple users that haven't done that last Apple update and also for some that have.

Does Rogers have any suggestions with regards to these Apple/Android update issues?
Again thanks so much for engaging with me in this forum.
