Rogers Wireless latest scam, beware

Wes5
I've been here awhile

I received a phone call from Rogers a couple of days ago, from a loyalty department with a deal to switch to Rogers Wireless (currently only Internet with them ). Switching all 4 lines for the family would supposedly give 100GB each, sharable data, no activation fees and no delivery fees for sim cards. The first line would be $29 for the first 7 months, then $39 for the months 8, 9 and 10, and $50 after that. The other 3 lines would be $29 for the first seven months and $39 after that.

Received one sim card first, then the other free the next day after the first one. I never opened or used any of the sim cards.

When I received the emails outlining the changes to the account and Critical Summary, nothing matched the agreed terms. The first line showed up as $75 ($46 more than what was agreed on), with no activation fee and a $25 credit for sim delivery, but no info about the wireless data available at all. The second line was with only 50GB of data. The third line was with $120GB and the fourth line was 60GB. The prices for lines 2, 3 and 4 were correct, but the available data was wrong, and the email stated that lines 2, 3 and 4 had $70 activation fees each and $25 sim delivery each (which were supposed to be waved as discussed and confirmed during the conversation with Rogers, $295 overcharged!!! before even using their services!!!).

After receiving those emails and seeing that nothing matched what was discussed and agreed on, I called Rogers asking them to correct the paperwork (never at any point did I use those sim cards, they are still in the envelope as a matter of fact). Two hours on the phone and three agents (including a manager ) later they still refused to correct and resend the paperwork. Cancelled the whole deal at that point. Got confirmation from the manager that I would not be charged any fees and asked for a confirmation email. Received an email that services were cancelled and on My Rogers site there was no longer any trace of the wireless services.

Two days later received a bill through email saying that I must pay for the first line $45 + $70 activation fee ( which was waived originally!!!), total after taxes $113 just for the first line which I never used and was cancelled. Spent more than an hour on the phone with 3 agents trying to sort it out only to see the $70 dropped. The rest I have to pay and hope their promise to credit it back in March ???

Stay away from Rogers Wireless. The amount of time and frustration it takes to sort out their mistakes is beyond comprehension. Their Critical Summary info is completely inaccurate and impossible to rectify. Do not use their SIM cards at all until all information in the account is accurate. Getting on the phone with Rogers is a very frustrating experience, make sure you have plenty of time, get some coffee or tea, and maybe get a book to read while listening to the elevator music. You cannot trust any of the agents, they promise one thing and they do the opposite, they confirm no activation fees, then they add them anyway. Keep checking your bill frequently as they LOVE to keep increasing the monthly fees hoping you won't notice.
