Retrieving Former Phone Number

Moss1
I've been around

Hi,

I had a mobile phone number with Rogers since 2008. Then I switched the number to Chatr, after 3 months of inactivity as I was travelling, Chatr deactivated the account and released my number. I call the number and it is unassigned. I went to a phone store, they see the number available under Rogers and Fido. However, upon trying to purchase a plan and assign the number, they can't do so. Is there a way to know when will the number be available to be assigned ? Can it be assigned to me again given I have all the documents to prove I was the owner ?
This number is used to verify multiple important work accounts and I would appreciate any help on this matter.

Thank you all

Good day @Moss1 ,

Thanks for posting to the Rogers Community! I completely understand your desire to recuperate your telephone number.

Once unassigned from an account, phone numbers are subject to an aging period where they will not be available to be assigned to another line. You are able to recover your telephone number by resuming your original account, as long as you're within the aging period.

The length of the aging period depends on the product line. For wireless accounts, it is typically 60 days. Do you know how long it's been since your Chatr account was deactivated?
