Did Rogers release a new bugged change number feature?

heartin
I've been here awhile

Rogers recently introduced a new feature in the mobile app that allows users to change their phone number (screenshot attached). While this sounds convenient, my experience has been anything but. The number changing process was tedious, and despite my intention to change the secondary number, it changed my primary number instead. Not once, but twice. I lost two numbers and now have to inform all my contacts.

Having started as a developer and being an architect myself with many years of IT experience, this is a serious bug the engineers have made. I believe they relied on the account number in some logic and not the actual phone number, leading to the primary number getting changed. I don’t know if the architect messed up the design and wonder how QA did not test it properly.

I’ve spent hours in customer care queues, only to have my chat cut off right before getting help. This is a serious bug that needs urgent attention. Users shouldn’t have to pay the price—literally and figuratively—for a faulty feature.

Good morning @heartin,

I am sorry to hear that you encountered some difficulties changing your phone number. I've performed many number changes over the years and I've never seen this particular bug.

We'd be happy to take a closer look to see what is going on! Feel free to send a private message to @CommunityHelps so we can assist you further. For more information on how our Private Messaging system works, you can find out more here.

@RogersCorey It does not matter how many times you have done in the past as this is a bug with their new feature. Even I have done number changes successfully before. I am talking about a bug with the recent feature, may be released two or three weeks before and was shown as a new featrure. So have you changed your second line after this change came? Then only you can reproduce this error. I have screenshots and even the Rogers store agreed it is a bug. Not just once, I selected second number, saw the warning that second number will be changed ( I have screenshots) but the first line was changed instead.
