Xfinity box isn't updating

Rogers ignite box has not updated for six months. Other boxes more recent updates. Works ok but should it update similar to the other boxes. Works fine.

Not updated in what way?  To check the status of your set-top box, press and hold the Exit button on your remote for 3 seconds, then key in Down Down 2.  On the Summary > Info screen, the "Firmware Download Status" should say "No upgrade needed."

There are also currently two different models of set-top boxes out in the field, the Xi6 and the XiOne, and Comcast has redundant suppliers for each of those, which are based on different underlying hardware and which run different base firmware.  The set-top boxes get other live updates which are independent of the base firmware.

I have also seen different versions of (for example) the YouTube app released in the field.  I don't know how Rogers decides or prioritizes how all the different updates for all of the different Ignite/Xfinity set-top boxes get rolled out.

Thanks for the comments. I use the sequence you describe on the remote to access what firmware version I'm using as well seeing signal strength in real time.

There was an issue with a pushed out  update last year,  that caused  freezing, black screens to a good portion of customers. We were told, on this forum, after the new fix was pushed out  to check firmware version and that it should be a certain version or newer on all our  boxes. So I check periodically and also signal strength, but one box has not updated since August and the firmware version is not the same as my other boxes. That is why I posted my observations.

My Technicolor Xi6 (Xi6-T) set-top boxes (the hardware variant with the HDMI issues you just described) are also still running base firmware that was released in back in August, 2024.  It's nothing to be alarmed about.

The XiOne set-top boxes would be running different firmware as would the Arris Xi6 (Xi6-A) boxes.

I have three Xi6-T boxes all installed when ignite first came out where I live. Two have updates from August-6.6p22sl. The third has an update fro November with 6.6p23sl.

My fourth is a  replacement box -an XiOne with, of course different firmware.

Just wondering why one of my Xi6-T's , all installed together is running a newer version from November. Any thoughts.
