Originally my red/white rcf cables were connected to nextbox and headphones worked fine. They are Sony and not bluetooth. There is no way to connect them to ignite box nor the LG tv. Do I need a converter and if so what kind? Digital to analogue? Thanks for any help!

Yes, you need an adaptor/converter that will pass the HDMI signals, but also provide analogue audio (RCA) output. Obviously you'll need two HDMI cables, one to feed the adaptor and one to feed the TV from the adaptor. Make sure you get an adaptor that is capable of handling the video signals to the TV (4K? 1080P?)
The LG TV probably has an optical output, which you could use to feed a converter to analogue audio (Optical/Toslink to analogue audio/RCA) for your headphones, but then you'd need to switch the TV to "external speakers", whenever you wanted to use the headphones, although this may be a cheaper and safer option since it wouldn't involve the video signals. When using the TV speakers, you'd have to switch the TV audio back to "internal speakers" or whatever it's called.
People have reported issues with Bluetooth headphones, so I wouldn't rush out and get them.

You need HDMI to RCA since that's the way the signals flow, however, the converter needs to not only have an output for the RCA cables, but it also needs to have an output for the HDMI, so that the signal can continue to the TV (HDMI passthrough). That HDMI output also needs to be compatible with the signal you're sending to the TV - either 4K or 1080P depending on the TV. Might as well get 4K if that's available, even if you don't yet have a 4K TV.
Here's an example, but I'm confused as to whether it'll actually pass 4K when the analogue audio output is in use. Perhaps it goes down to 1080P only when composite video (Yellow) is in use, difficult to tell. Check out the reviews, but this is basically what you want.
Paste the following into Amazon Canada's website and you'll find it in the results for $52.75

@Koo2 were you able to connect the Bluetooth headphones to the Rogers set top box or did you connect them to the LG tv? If you connect them to the tv, then you can use them no matter what the tv source happens to be, ie: Rogers set top box, DVD player, game box, etc, etc.
The LG tv audio output is quirky, to say the least. The tv will output 2 channel or 5 channel audio depending on what is selected for the audio output.
Do you have a receiver that has a toslink input, so that you can connect the tv to the receiver via toslink cable?
I don't have time at the moment, but I'll get back to this later today to post comments regarding the LG tv audio output selection and what to expect with those selections.
