Intermittent blackouts

On March 2 TV started blacking out intermittently. No picture no sound every couple minutes. Blackouts would persist for about  15 seconds then TV would resume. This kept repeating. TV screen then showed software update ongoing message, but problems continued afterwards as well.

Good day @wasturge ,

Thank you for posting your concerns here! I'm sorry to hear of the random black outs that you've been seeing when watching TV, that's definitely odd.

May I confirm, is this happening across multiple TV boxes? Do you find that some of your wireless devices (cellphones, tablets, etc.) lose their connection at the same time? For now, I'd recommend rebooting your equipment, beginning with your internet modem (unplug for about 30 seconds before plugging it back in again and allow to fully reboot), followed by your TV box(es). Once done, kindly monitor to see if the black outs persist.

Please give it a try and let us know how it goes!

Thank you,

RogersYasmine

Thanks for the reply. Only cable TV. For 2 days after I turned on the TV  in the morning the screen was only black with a message about updating software for nextbox. After a few hours it worked OK for the rest of the day. Then this morning (4 March) I got only channel 1 and had to reboot the cable box to get all channels to work. So far everything is working but I cannot guarantee that tomorrow it will still be OK.

Since you're still on Legacy Digital Cable, you have posted in the Xfinity forum, when you should have posted in the TV forum.  A mod may move your thread...

Your signal may be poor to the box(es).  Below is a link that will allow you to check the signal strength.  Rogers wishes to migrate everyone to Xfinity, so it's unlikely that you will get any assistance from Rogers while you are still on Digital Cable.

Re: Intermittent blackouts

None of that works. Being doing for TWO and it's a Rogers issue not a user issue. Either hardware or software. Trying to watch the Players Championship on the Golf Channel I paid for and it's pixelating, blackouts and all intermittent and that's not the only channel! NOT once I've I been compensated for the last two years of isses.
