There is at least one model of TCL TV that has an Roku OS in it. Pairing is impossible unless you follow this:
When it asks for the model of the TV, use the entry field to enter TCL-ROKU. The dash is important. The pairing tables list TCL and ROKU, but do not list TCL with ROKU, you need to make the entry to find the pairing.

You are very welcome indeed. I am a techie of quite a number of year myself. I was frustrated when the "techie" at Rogers tried again and again to find a solution then scheduled a visit. So i put my logical head to it and disovered the problem. I just wnated to share this in the hopes of saving someone else the problem.

I don't know if the 40" is different from my 55". I cannot replicate the situation. Try using a space, maybe

I'm not sure, however, I believe the instructions are on how to programme an IgniteTV remote to control a TV's on/off/volume functionality, not how to programme the TV's remote to control the IgniteTV box.
I always prefer to use the following link, select setup, select add new TV, select the make, then say you don't know the model number and a list of codes to try will be supplied. (12434 or 11756 for TCL for example)

Please excuse me if I'm misinterpreting this thread. (I do realize that some TV remotes can be programmed to control the IgniteTV box, however, you often lose functionality like Voice Commands, it's only IR instead of RF, etc.)

Thank you so very much! I was struggling to pair my Rogers remote until i found your solution. Many thanks!!

What do you mean by pairing? You are pairing an XB7 or XB8 to your TV? Do you mean connecting your TCL-Roku TV to the wifi from your gateway?
Saturday
I am referring to the pairing of the remote with the TV
Saturday
Oh, ok. Your original post said gateway which is a different thing than the remote used with the set top box.
Saturday
I do not understand what you are referring to as "set top box" The "gateway" is in effect the only set top box installed with ignite as I know it.
Sunday - last edited Sunday
The "gateway" or router for Ignite/Xfinity is XB6/XB7/XB8, these are the gateway/modems for Ignite.
If you have Ignite/Xfinity TV then you will also have a small 4 inch square grey box Xi6-A, Xi6-T or XiOne (all basically the same) . These connect to your TV via HDMI and can connect either via Wifi or Ethernet to the gateway. providing streaming services. This is paired with a remote XR-11 or XR-15 to control the streaming boxes. You do not pair your remote to the "gateway".
You can google each of these diveces to see what they look like.
I think peolpe are confused as to what you are talking about.
Good Luck
Sunday
a Gateway is a Modem, you do not pair modem to your TV, actually in fact you do not pair remote control to anything, they do not communicate 2-way so its not called pairing, its called programming the remote, and you only program it to your TV set that you bought, the remote is for the Set Top Box, ignite well i should say Xfinity now, is a tv service AND an internet service, so be more specific on which device you are referring to in future
