Today I received a scam text, purportedly from BMO, inviting me to click a link, which I didn't, I'm not even a BMO customer.
So I check my call history and see the scam message at 12:33, but there are two others before that at 11:06 and 11:08 that I didn't even receive. It's bad enough having to pay for incoming spam and scam texts, but getting charged for texts not even received is adding insult to injury. I know $0.90 is not a big deal, but how can I get Rogers to fix this?

Other than calling in about any fraudulent stuff, etc. after the fact... not really sure.
As there is no sort of filtering, etc on texts. It doesnt know whats good, whats not..
the MOST maybe if they could block specific numbers..
(but even thats not really helpful as they will just spoof other numbers)

I also occasionally get spam or smishing SMS. I also usually just suck up the charges because it's not worth my while for less than 1$.
However, I do report any spam/smishing SMS by forwarding the text to 7726 (SPAM). This way Rogers deals with it, perhaps blocking the number, perhaps reporting it to authorities if it's worth it, etc.
I typically call in to Rogers PAYGo once or twice a year. I recently called to use $100 to defer payments for a year and at that time I mentioned several SMS for which I shouldn't have been billed. The CSR instantly provided a "goodwill credit" for those texts - in my case $1.80. I find all the PAYGo CSRs I've dealt with to be knowledgeable and helpful.

Call them and they will reimburse you I bet ... but then you have to keep watching your account to see that you catch them before they go off the account page since Rogers won't keep them around long .... depending on you usage of course.
The only other possibility that I found was to change companies .... the phone that was switched to a different company hasn't received any spam that has made it to me yet in almost two years ... not logical I know but that is the way it has worked out .

It's annoying to receive spam texts, even more so with PayGo when you have to pay for them or use up your allotment of free texts, depending on your plan. However, I only get them maybe every other month, so it's hardly worth the trouble to call and wait on hold to get them reimbursed.

This is an old thread, but the spam SMS issue still remains and could get worse. Be warned this is about to get more expensive. The rate for texts go up by 100% on October 12, 2020 (from .30c to .60c). Two possible actions:
1. Call in and maybe Rogers will give you a credit. Not sure if this is a one-time "good will" measure or something you can get once or twice per year.
2. Get a text add-on pack added to your plan. The minimum is $3 which gets you 30 incoming or outgoing texts.
I had 22 of these SMS messages charged (never received them on my phone) since September 1, and was able to get a credit for them. Have now added a text plan.

Per post 3 of this thread, I've never had an issue getting credit for these or other similar items that I've been infected with. 😉
