Total internet schedule or new device control

Is there a way to either set a total internet schedule without the person profiles?
Or is there a way to prevent new devices from connecting until you give permission?
Or is there a way to set a default person for any new device connected?

My son has his schedule, but when the internet turns off, he changes his computer's ip address and reconnects, making his device show up as a new device without a person it is connected to, bypassing the schedule.

Hello, @DarrrenWaine.

We welcome you to our Community and thank you for your post. I understand how difficult it can be to manage Internet access effectively when a user can bypass the applied parental controls.

You can pause access to an individual device:

Pause WiFi Access with the Ignite HomeConnect App

Please check the Parental Controls FAQs and related links listed to know all available parental controls.

RogersMoin

Thank you for the reply.
The question is in regards to the Ignite app. I'm just wondering if I'm missing a feature or something. The scheduling is great, the controls are great, but I'm trying to find a way to counter this work around. Two ways I can see a fix are:
- is there a way to block all internet? (During bedtime, internet doesn't matter, unplugging the device doesn't stop a kid from plugging it back in when you're asleep)
- is there a way to authorize permission for new devices, as in they dont get access until the admin allows it? (Which would be a great addition to the app as it would also help prevent unwanted guests from connecting as well).

Thank you again!

Hello, @DarrrenWaine.

I appreciate your follow-up questions.

You can Pause WiFi Access, Set Up Active Time Limits and Use Downtime Scheduler with Ignite HomeConnect app. If you want to block all Internet access, try Downtime Schedule.

Thank you for your feedback regarding an app feature request to authorize new device access.

Hi again,
Once again appreciate the info.
Are these all options under a profile (people section)?
If so, I already have this set up.
Maybe a better question is, how do you manage newly connected devices?
How would all this be done without a profile?
This is the main issue.
New device connected, it should either:
- be disabled where the owner can grant permission
- auto added to a person/profile
- or there should be the same downtime controls, but for devices not in a profile

If not, that is OK, I'm just seeing if I am missing the option.

Thank you,

Darren

Re: Total internet schedule or new device control

@DarrrenWaine, once a device connects to the WiFI network, they would just appear in a list under WiFI. You would have to  manually assign the device to a person (e.g. Household or Guest). This will also allow you to get custom insights and family settings.

I hope this answers your question. Please keep us posted!

Re: Total internet schedule or new device control

Doesn't look like the Ignite HomeConnect app can do what Darren is asking about, I have the same problem. Once the profile is shutdown for bedtime, the child will just re-add the device to the wifi, and have access all night long. It's disappointing the app can't be updated to fix the workaround by children
