Is there not a way that we can stream the hockey games in 4K when they’re available in 4K on cable? Especially when games are regional to TSN (Leaf games really since they’re the only ones that do air in 4K)?

No.  Also, streaming TSN and SN is typically not the same video quality even as HD since the streaming bitrate is very low - sometimes as little as one tenth the amount (2.5 Mbps - streaming, vs 10 Mbps HD, vs 25 Mbps - 4K channel).  It's mostly utilized by people who watch on small screens like tablets or phones. If you want 4K TSN or SN, you need to subscribe through a provider and watch/record the 4K channels.  Here's a thread or two on the topic with extensive discussions:

See that’s seriously unfortunate. I’m a Leafs fan living in Calgary. Therefore I need to subscribe to SN Premium to get the games. I don’t get the option to watch the regional games in 4K.

I have a gig fibre connection - why does the stream have to be so low bitrate?

It costs money to provide additional bandwidth, however, you'd think that they would provide a higher quality option - like say Netflix does where you can pay more per month for HD, 4K, etc.  I'm guessing there just isn't the demand.  Perhaps you can suggest it to SN.

I mentioned the bitrates earlier and they don't tell the whole story depending on compression formats, however when you get down to the levels mentioned, nothing can bring those signals "back".

For $250 per year Rogers should be offering a better quality - you sell a premium service at a premium price you should offer a premium product.

Just as an FYI, I found the following data regarding bitrates:

https://www.sportsnetplus.ca/support/watching-snnow/getting-started/how-much-data-does-video-streami...

1 GB/hr = 2.2 Mbps

3 GB/hr = 6.7 Mbps, but it has the "up to" disclaimer, so who knows what they send - only people who actually measure it, which appeared to be around 3-4 Mbps in one of the threads I linked previously.

Yea. Either way it’s below standards. TSN games are extra hot garbage. SN is ok-ish
