Modem issue

My Modem keeps buffering which then turns off and my TV screen goes black.  The modem itself seems to get really warn as well.  How long is a life span of a Modem mine is approximately 5 years old. I look forward to hearing back from you. Regards,Karen

The modem shutting down itself can be untimely; is it happening frequently? The modems getting warm is normal; however, hot to touch needs to be investigated. Often, blockage of the intake vents can lead to overheating and suboptimal performance. Additionally, the placement of the modem plays a significant role in ensuring its optimal performance.
